Well, there's probably some reason why you're eating so much...and you don't want to think about it right now because you'd rather lose weight. That's OK. Sometimes it's too much work to deal with two problems at once, and overeating can be life-threatening if you're severely obese. So deal with your emotions as much as you can while you're losing weight.
I think you know the answer. Exercise, baby! Yes, exercise makes you feel better by raising endorphin levels (less stressed-out eating), it revs up your metabolism, and it helps strengthen and enlarge your muscles. Plus muscles burn more calories than fat while you're at rest. So you burn calories, feel better, get healthier, and...ta-da! You look better! Hooray! Do what you can and when that gets easy, do more. And more. And even more. Your eating will fall in line with your improved health. Then, when you aren't as stressed about your health and looks, you can really focus on why you were eating too much to begin with.
Oh, but first, make sure you don't have any underlying health problems. Trip to the doctor! For instance, I had insulin resistance because I have polycystic ovary syndrome (it's this whole hormonal imbalance thing.) I went on diabetes medicine to help the insulin resistance, and I lost 15 pounds while changing NOTHING in my routine--no extra exercise, no dietary changes. I felt so good, I started cutting out extra sugar and exercising more, and I've lost a lot more weight. If your hormones or blood sugar are messed up, you'll have a ***** of a time losing weight and that's not your fault. Get that stuff checked out, and then exercise as much as your Dr. says is OK. Good luck, and keep moving forward (literally and figuratively). Or sideways, or whatever direction you want to exercise. :)

Denying yourself food isn't necessarily going to help you lose wait. The first step is to make it a goal to lose weight. Then, something my family did was sort out all your food and put in bags. But the amount in the bag is exactly one serving. This way you're not getting to many carbohydrates. Speaking of carbohydrates, make sure you watch the number of carbohydrates you consume. The recommended number for you depends on how active your lifestyle is. Also, remember to have at least 20 minutes of excercise each day. Even if it means walking around the block or walking up and down stairs repeatedly, any amount of excercise will help. I've found that the more active you are the less you want to eat or have an appetite for all thos things that are bad for you. Watch also how much fat you are consuming, the oil contents, and try to stay away from anything fried. This means french fries, burgers, and fish sticks. Make sure you eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. Watermelon is really good because it's mostly water. But it still has enough fruit that it will curb your appetite. AND!!! Drink lots, and lots of water. 8 cups a day is the recommended amount, but drink more. Who cares if you visit the bathroom more? Isn't it worth it if the numbers on your scale drop, dramatically?

It really does depend how much you are eating..?
To be honest- it's will power.
HOWEVER- a few good tips...
1#
Try drinking a glass of water before you decide if your actually hungry; sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between thirst and hunger.
If your still hungry 15minutes after drinking a gflass of water, then eat.
2#
Change the TYPE of food you eat rather than the amount ie- eating 500g of fresh raw fruit & veg is much better than eating 500g of chips .
3#
Try using smaller plates to eat from
4#
Try keeping a food dairy for a few weeks- take this along to your GP for some advice- you may have an intollerance etc.
IF YOU WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT YOU MUST BE SENSIBLE
DONT STARVE YOURSELF
A GP CAN OFFER GOOD ADVICE
Hope this helps x

1) Read and stick to the serving sizes found on all your food's labels. Remember that one box/can can easily contain 2-3 portions.
2) Read the labels on your food. Try to go organic.
3) Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG).
4) Use a kitchen scale. Weigh everything that is not already pre-portioned.
5) Eat more raw fruits and vegetables with each meal.
6) Eat yogurt with healthy bacteria within (or take probiotic supplements)
7) Eat high fiber foods, especially for breakfast.
8) Start cooking for yourself. Learn how to cook!

Self control. The same way alcoholics quit drinking, and drug users quit using. You can look to friends and family for help, but it will come down to you and your personal decision making. Diet pills can help curb your appetite, and exercise will help as well. If you are hungry all the time, work on eating 6 small meals a day. It will keep your stomach more full, and if you make good choices, will help you on your goal substantially. Also, when you get hungry, try eating healthy things like vegetables, instead of things like potato chips, candy bars, fast food, etc.

The answer to your problem is not to eat less, it's to cut down on the junk food and soft drinks. Instead, try eating more portions during the day with less carbohydrates (but don't eliminate them completely- your body needs them to properly function). You should try doing some cardio or pilates work-outs to get into better shape. Instead of reaching for the chips or the carrots at night, try some raw veggies instead! Drink lots of water too.

You might think about trying The Movie Star Diet. I lost 50 pounds with it after only five months, and I couldn't be happier. I've tried a lot of different diets (Atkins, South Beach, and Weight Watchers, etc.) and none of them worked anywhere near as well as this one. It's definitely worth a shot if you really want to see a difference in a short time.

Easy. Stop eating so much. Really, you have to control what you put in your mouth. Get rid of all junk food and sodas (you can lose 10-20 lbs. in a year just by not drinking sodas) you have and replace it with healthy choices. Lean meats, whole grains and lots of fruit and vegetables.
Get out and walk.

Exercise. You have to move. Life is motion. Everything in life is a habit. We are creatures of habit. All of us. It takes 40 days to develop a habit, and the same amount of time to break one. Maybe you should develop a new habit that conflicts with the one you have. If you force yourself not to eat highly processed foods for a couple of months, you won't be able to after that. It will taste so bad, that it will make you sick. My son lost 90lbs. just by drinking a gallon of water a day.

Give away your foods to hungry people and feel gratified.
No need of eating less for losing weight! Just do some yoga regularly.
