It is hard to make a living in the entertainment business. Only a very small percentage of the population can make it as such. I am not saying you can't be one of them, because you may very well be able to. However I bet your dad is just worried about you. I am sure he wants you to be successful in life and so he is trying to help you see that you may not be successful in making a living at singing. I am not at all saying you should give up your dream. Sing if you love it, but beware that it will take a lot of hard work to make money at it. You may want to have a back up plan. And don't be to hard on dear old dad, he is just trying to keep his baby from being hurt. Give him a hug and tell him you understand why he is not 100% supportive. Ask him to give you some slack, but maybe make a compromise with him as well and put some noticeable effort into an education to be something else. Just in case.
Good luck to you.

If singing is what you want to do, then you have to prove to your father that you have what it takes to sing. Start by entering some singing competitions for beginners and see what happens. Perhaps, if you win a few, your father may be convinced that you have the talent it takes to succeed.

Follow your dreams and prove him wrong or let him hear you sing somewhere and maybe he will then be behind you.
