If you had knowledge of truth(s), wouldn't you want to share that wealth of understanding and do what was commanded of you by your God? These "people" you call Christians are merely doing what was ordered them to do which is make disciples and spread the word. They feel compelled to do this for the generous feeling of relief they have received from their everyday stresses and worries. They would like to share something with their fellowman and have a sense that they can share those invaluable "truths" outlined to them from the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. The only Christians I know of who carry this out are the Jehovah's Witnesses, and they, unlike other evangelists whether on television or radio, carry this out like the first century Christians did and who were commanded by their Lord, Jesus, who also set the standard and placed personal interest in this work. It's not the conversion they are after as much as delighting in seeing someone else open their heart to the understanding that God Almighty has a promise through the guarantee of the sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son, Christ Jesus!

I am a Christian. I don't know why othere Christians try to convert or tell everybody else that their religion is wrong. I believe that the way I worship is the right way. but I don't know that for sure. None of us will know till God ot Jesus tells us themselves. I wish people would live and let live, but I don't see that happening. The only thing we can do is try to be patient with the know it alls of this world., smile and go about our business.

Most of them think they're just sharing their faith with others. And while there's really nothing wrong with that, there are some individuals who go from merely sharing and talking about their beliefs to outright harassment and worse with those who don't share their beliefs.

As far as not being tolerant, well, those same individuals who harass others can't seem to stand the thought that their religion isn't the only valid one in the world.

Is there anything wrong about talking and trying to convince people of your ideas? Don't we really do that to people all the time not just with regard to religion? For example around election time what is going on. Are not the politicians trying to convince you they would do a better job than the other? What about new products? Aren't people always trying to convince you that one product is better than another? What if the decision is life of death? Wouldn't you want to know?

There is actually a verse or two in their bibles (you know, that big ol' book the guy on your porch is waving around. be nice to him and lock the dog up and put the gun down. Hospitality IS one of the Nine Noble Virtues, ya know) that tells them to do this. I don't mind if they're polite about it, as they are just following their religion.

However, when we talk the forced christianization of entire nations, I agree. It is inherently rude. And bloody. For both sides.

As Christians we believe in the bible as the Muslims believe in the Koran.
In the bible Jesus says, "I am the way the truth and the life, no one come to the father but through me." So there is no other way to Heaven upon death.
bible also says, "all sin and fall short of the glory of God." and when one believes and follows Jesus their sins are forgiven.
Jesus also said" preach the gospel (good news) in all the nations, baptizing them in the father the son and the holy spirit" This is called the great commission.

So, Jesus told us to preach, teach the gospel of his salvation, there's no other way to heaven (if there is Jesus is ether a liar, a fake or nuts) and doing this is what we are commanded to do.

The need to attempt to brainwash others was written into their mystical holy book for the sake of preservering the religion. Tolerance, on the other hand, is not in their mystical holy book.

It is not rude to try to save people. It is rude to ill treat those who come to you good intention thinking they can help you though you have not asked for anything. You just thank them, and tell them you are well instructed and love your faith. Then you are tolerant.

Why do you generalize about Christians. I am a Christian and I do no such thing EVER. I can assure you non-believers are rude as well, do SOME Christians take it to the extreme? Yes but that is the same in any belief.
