I know that they were having to buy their own body protection with no reimbursement, and they are scrounging for scrap metal to fix the humvees, also there is a shortage of good humvees over there--is anything being done?

yes there is something being done. I have been issued upgraded body armour, nomax suit (fire retardent suit), and ESS goggles and glasses. ESS is ballistic eye ware. HMMWV's are getting the armour plateing that is needed. anything else you want to ask? Oh yeah I am a Marine.

When my husband just deployed, his unit got new vehicles. And he certainly had his share of armor and gear when he left.

It's true that because of budget limits and time for repairs, they are using refurbished and repaired equipment more often than not, but it's not like the gov't is just letting our soldiers sit there and rot away unexposed.

The equipment may help keep a soldier safe, but the equipment does not MAKE the soldier.

ummmmmm yes of course but as far as the body armour alot of ppl are buying their own bc they dont like the one that is issued and it works better for that person and why should the military reimburse someone for equip. that they have been issued allready its called uparmoured hummers , they arent ied proof but its better than riding in a soft back hummer

Here are some things you won't see on the news or in the papers. Good Marines doing kind things and their job. Why? Because they volunteered.

My husband got issued all his stuff right after basic in '03. Everyone he served with had the body armor issued. AND they all hate it and don't want to wear it.

no our government doesn't ever care. I think a war hero from this war should be the next president, maybe one that lost an arm, leg, eye or something. I have heard that Oakley product/eye wear is really good against impacts, so atleat they can keep their eyes
