DO they do it based upon your pay?

Yes, they base it on your pay and your rent (atleast when i did it 2 years ago). You go to your local medicaid office and fill out a butt load of paperwork. Then you find out if you're approved or not. Then you pick your HMO and contact them and you get your medicaid card and insurance card by mail. If you're accepted your child will be covered thru their first birthday at which point you would be re evaluated and theirs possibly extended. however parents on it are typically only covered until their post partum check up.

EDIT: i forgot to add when you go to apply you need proof of pregnancy ( a letter from your doctor is what they want )

It varies from state to state but most states have some kind of medical help for pregnant mothers that doesn't base on pay. Contact your local health department and they can help you.

Apply for it at your local Department of Human Services. It is based on your income.

Go to nearest office and fill out paperwork. They will then set an appointment for you. If you qualify, it won't be much money or food card, but will help.

Yes and whether or not you already have insurance. Go to your local welfare or Social security office and talk to them. Or go online to the website and see the requirements, they differ for states.
