Yes,it's rude.You shouldn't punch anyone in the first place especially if they are serving you food. Watch the movie "Waiters". this stuff really happens. Be kind,at worst just don't leave a tip and hope you don't get that waiter next time you visit that restaurant. If you are in Texas you might just get a boot up your butt.

I say no I always Punch and spit on my server as a tip. but it is rude to eat a hamburger in public

In my American country, the waiter would press assault charges on you and sue you in court for every penny you have. So, my advice is not to mess with the wait staff.

It is not good etiquette but, more to the point, it is stupid. He probably forgot your drink and extra ketchup. Wait until he
brings that to punch him. And then be prepare for a firestorm.
