agree that respect at all times should be observed in any religious belief system for items considered Holy. even visitors should respect Holy items of differing belief systems as a sign of respect if they want respect for their own.

I think others can Speak from the Pulpit. But letting ones children play on or with it is disrespectful possibly. And the communion table as with anything else in the front of the church during the service one should leave it alone but I would think that it would be ok to look at it close up or touch items on it if careful about it...

I think it depends on the specific church or denomination. Our pastor gives a childrens' sermon, and he sits on the steps in front of the pulpit area, while the children gather around him. Granted, they don't actually play, but some of the younger ones get out of line once in a while. I don't know about the communion table not to be touched except for those who distribute the Lord's Supper. Sorry.

Pulpit, not a Biblical word. Jesus and his disciples did most of their preaching in the public. Acts 20:20) Communion table per se also not a Biblical idea, rather a ritual later added.

We do not let children play at the altar. Nor do we normally touch that altar.

Gosh, but you've picked a topic that pushes my buttons. I also dislike people gossiping in church. Show some respect please!!!
