Well, schweppes is a product of Pepsi, so the stock broker doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.
In the business world, there are direct and indirect competitors.
You first need to ask yourself are you doing it on Coca-Cola the company but solely for beverages or Coca-Cola the beverage?
If you're doing it on the company, any sort of "pop" would be a direct competitor. I'm in Canada, so I'm not quite sure what's available in the U.S., but Pepsi is really the only major competitor. You'll also have the no name brand pops (RC Cola, President's Choice, etc...).
Indirect competitors could be other beverages as well as some snack foods.
Indirect beverages, juices, water (Aquafina, Dasani [remember, they're pretty much their own entities, despite being owned by Pepsi and Coca-Cola, respectively -- being a non-pop makes them indirect]), iced teas (can possibly also be seen as indirect), sports beverages (gatorade, powerade), energy drinks (Red Bull, Full Throttle, etc...) health drinks (V8, V8 Splash, Motts) (trying to think of more, just nothing is coming to mind), tap water, milk
As for indirect non-beverages, people might only have the option of buying a drink or a bag of chips or a chocolate bar. They might go so far as only having money for essentials (although this usually isn't the case (such as Bread and Milk).
Hope this helps.

Being that French Canadians put ketchup on everything including steak I'd have to say NO Pepsi in the National drink of Quebec & Pepsi is an old slang term for a French Canadian Did you know Pepsi is a Frenchman's bellywash because that's what *they* say it is.
