Cold rolled steel because it is denser than hot rolled steel. The nails should be (minimally) denser and therefore heavier, giving you more penetrating power. More penetrating power means less swings of the hammer, which can add up by the end of the day.

As far as holding strength goes, they sould be the same.

Any difference between the two won't be noticable, unless scientifically tested.

Nails from cold rolled steel are harder and do not bend when you hammer them. So they can penetrate hard surfaces like brick walls etc.

I dont know which one. They are close to equal in density and strength. Which ever nail typically has a smoother surface on the outside is better as this would be best for nail penetration.

Cold rolled should be work hardened and therefore a better choice.
