The US is more Christianized than a lot of other Western countries. Get your head out of your @ss and stop listening to Jerry Falwell et al.

I've never heard it called either. There are some hate groups within the Christian community and several that use the bible to guide their hate. but Christianity all together has never been called a cult or hate group.

the one calling Christians a cult and a hate group is Rosie Odonnell. She made the remarks on the show The View that Christians are just as dangerous as terrorists.
The US government does not have that opinion at all.

Even though the U.S. is not a "christian" nation I have not heard that one from any official source... there are some who misuse the name christian and claim to be Christians but are not. These often act in hateful ways. And, there are some who claim to be Christian groups or denominations that are not, ie: mormons. But I do not think what you may have heard applies to all Christians. I am of The True Christian Faith and have no restrictions, yet, on my worship in the U.S.

Because there are some Christians who ARE cults and hate groups, so the good ones are lumped in with the minority of bad ones. Anti-Christianity is the last acceptable bigotry, with anti-Catholicism being the bright shiney cherry on top of that bigotry milk shake.

Just want to say to SpiritWalker that if you truly believe what you have said, then you are a perfect example of hate. Why do Christians seem to have so much hate within themselves? And, yes, to the questioner...could you provide a link for your assertion?

the problem is that many groups identify themselves as 'Christian' but have policies that clearly show intolerance.
example: "God hates f*gs!"
since these groups are usually hungry for exposure, they cause far more of a stir than more accepting Christian organizations. The squeaky wheel and all that.

I haven't directly heard Christians referred to this way. But, they surely elude to it. I think it's because Christians provide a unified front and we are willing to step out in faith to defend what we feel is best for our communities, schools, and country. For lack of a good defense against our beliefs, because there isn't any, they lash out and try to make us look like extremist.

maybe because the followers never use their own reasoning when making decisions. look at the christian group leaders who make their followers drink poisonous kool-aid. Or the ones who run off with all of the church's money. No, I just can't seem to figure it out either.

Depends on who you mean by ' Christian '. I don't go by rumors. Besides. The last time somebody tried something like that they started a wonderful period in human history. The Dark Ages. Ever heard of it? Nothing like like minded folks whacking each other by the thousands, no?
