Christian dilemma-the book of Daniel.?

Question

Why is it that there is so much controversy as to when it was written? It is of unknown authorship with a date ranging from the sixth to the second century BC. Surely this poses a problem for the notion of "infallible scripture"? If Christians themselves don't even know who wrote their "divine revelation" or even when why should they be taken seriously?

It's common knowledge to anyone who has studied Christianity that Liberal Christians, the Catholic church and Conservative Christians have differing views on the authorship. The following site gives a brief overview-

Whitehorse. You're correct, Jesus did trust the scriptures and he believed that Moses wrote the Pentateuch-the first five books of the bible. Modern biblical scholarship reveals that Moses could not have written them so that begs the question how the son of God could be ignorant of holy scripture when presumably it was the literal word of God.

Just as Daniel said, in the scriptures. That is why they said he would be the third ruler in babylon.
The only question was 536 to 618 as the time period covered.
Daniel in the march of the world powers describes perfectly the different powers and even how their kingdom would be divided.
No, bible book actually had more fulfilled prophecy.
Daniel 2:36 Tells about the powers we have had on the earth.
Babylon was the head of Gold But who would come after him?
Copper : Alexander the Great, 8th chapter tells again how his kingdom would be divided between his 4 generals.
Iron was Rome crushing and grinding everything.

Daniel 2:44 and in the days of those kings the god of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. That kingdom will never be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms and it it self will stand forever.

Daniel 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

This should give a clue that it was written in the 6th century B.C. by Daniel.

The Word of God is not diminished because we do not know when or whose hand HE used to write it.

Also Jesus did confirm the Pentateuch as the Word of God. I would highly suggest taking HIS word over it rather then some modern biblical scholarship saying that Moses could not have written them" Remember only a few hundred years ago, all of the "experts" said the world was flat too. The Bible said it wasn't. Maybe the experts will catch up with the facts of the Bible someday.

My question is why people are making a big deal about it anyway. The fact is, all the people making a fuss about it don't have a clue what Daniel is about. The events Daniel is predicting occured during the Interstetamental Period (that is, the time between where the Old Testament leaves off and the New Testament begins). What's this about Israel's 70 years of independence? It happened during this time after the revolt of Judas Maccabeus. The King of the North invades the King of the South? The Seleucid Empire invaded the Ptolemaic Empire via Israel.

As for the trustworthiness of God's word, remember that Jesus Himself trusted in the Scriptures....He used it as His main defense against Satan when He was tempted in the desert. He also said, "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” If we have faith in Jesus, how then can we not have faith in the Word of God? For it is even written of Jesus, "The Word became flesh and made its dwelling among us."

Jesus also tells us, "If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."

If we love Him and obey Him, He will prove the validity of His word! Ask Him into your heart today!! Test it out. For "the kingdom of god is not a matter of talk, but of power!"

Moses was 857 years after the flood at the Exodus 7:7; when he was 80 yrears old.
Abraham was 427 years after the flood Gen.12:4 at age 75, the promised land covenant was given to him and Exo.12:40,41 [ 430 years Gal.3:16-18 ];

There were 70 people in the family when Jacob came into Egypt Gen.46:26,27; Gen.47:9,11,28 he was from age 130 years 642 years after the flood, to age 147 years at death. [ Abraham was 427 + 215 years the Family was in Canaan to 642 after the flood, Jacob and family in Rameses Egypt ] next 215 years to 857 years after
the flood, half a million Promised Land heirs in 40 years in Deut.1:3; 29:5 at 897 years after the flood they are in the Promised Land in year 2553 and 1513 before Christ.

Moaes dies 1513 BCE and 1Ki.6:1 [ 480 years ]; 480 + 36 1Ki.11:42 king Solomon dies 997 before Christ, The Judah kings of 18 end 391st year at 606 years before Christ and Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel write their books 2Chr.36:20-23 AND THERE WILL BE NO KING UNTIL JESUS.

I believe that it was written in 537 BC by Daniel, the statesman in the court of heathen monarchs. In Daniel 12:4, it says that he wrote it. Porphyry, who opposed Christianity, said the book was written by an unknown Jew who lived at the time of Antiochus Epiphanes.
