You are absolutely right.Far too lenient. Too many do gooders on the side of criminals. No consideration is given to the feelings of the either family of the victim or just ordinary decent folk.

On the news today it said that the police said this was the worst child murder they had seen since the James Bulger case. The bastard who did it will probably get treated just the same and the murderers of that poor little boy. A few years in prison and then let out, given new identity, house paid for, bit of a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. Put them in a room with the parents is my opinion and let them do what they want to the scumbag! Only if they're decent they probably won't do anything. Eye for an Eye!

Hi Frank, seems to me that there are a lot of misconceptions here.

His Tariff is 12 years. This means that he must serve 12 years before he is elegible for his first parole hearing. The chances of him getting first parole are very slim and his next review may not then be for a further 5 years after that. There are no guarantees.

If and when he is released, he will be on a life licence.

This means that if he even breathes out of place he can be recalled to prison and immediately arrested.

I would suggest that he will do at least 20 years, if not more before his release.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

There's a lot too be said for minimum sentences before the possibility of parole.
I find it very easy to believe that this lad's solicitor played the "he's only young argument". Completely ignoring the fact that a growing number of young teens are becoming vicious, monstrous little bast***s who think it's quite acceptable to brutally stab a 11 year old to death.
I really wish the government would hurry up and do something about it all.

that 14 year old should stay in prison all of his life. Joe will never go home to his family so why should he. He is blaming his actions on the fact that he was bullied as a child. Lots of people get bullied but they dont turn to murder.Poor Joe was beaten then stabbed 16 times in the neck and chest, how frightened and in pain must he have been. Never let the boy out to do this again and let it maybe deter someone else.....I wholeheartedly agree with you.

yes 12 years for murder
30 years for train robbery
does that make sense
money is more important than life in this country

Extremely so I'm afraid. People get longer for things like robbery & drug posession than others get for manslaughter or murder. Life should mean just that LIFE.
