I am not really looking to lose weight. I just want to tone up as much as possible without going to a gym. I have a newborn so I don't really have time to jog or run anymore. I'm looking for a good routine that I can do daily or mulitiples times daily in my living room. I currently do crunches and squats sporadically throughout the day but I would like a routine that is effective and tells me exactly how many to do and how many times per day to do them. My target areas are abs, thighs and buns. Any ideas?

You can't spot reduce, only tone or tighten muscles. I would start with a plan though. Don't work the same muscles every day. If you do squats, then I would suggest 3 sets of 12 to 15 every other day. The same goes with abs, every other day. I would also suggest working the other muscle groups by doing push-ups, dips or some kind of bent over pull-up ( bend at waist and pick something heavy up toward your chest ). Any muscle pump will increase your metabolism and you burn calories at a higher rate. Walk whenever you can and carrying the baby makes it even better. Drink a lot of water to aid in the metabolism and to fill the muscles that you are working. Although you say you aren't looking to lose weight, if you have problem areas it's most likely stored fat. Sorry !! The water consumption is also great for the skin. It will with the elasticity.

Well one way to start i know u have a new born, but in nice weather stroll through the neighborhood and go walking. Thats a good way to shed the fat.. Also drink lots of water cause it flushes out the fat too. IT really works. Im doing it. I had my son almost three years ago and im just now trying to loose the weight so good luck to u

I know this first idea isn't for the living room, but you could try taking you baby for a walk in the stroller. I used to do that after my son was born and it helped me out quite a bit. Also try lying on you back and bend your knees to your chest and place your baby on your legs and hold on to him/her as you gently straighten your legs out and bring them back in this helps your legs, buns and abs.

"Toning up" is not a state of being. Those people who you think are "tone" actually have a lot of muscle. Muscle defintion gives you the "toned" look that is actualy partial musclue flexation.
