The culture we live in screams "Its all about ME". To be an openly practicing Christian today runs up against it when living Gospel values instead of the attitude, Whats in it for me?

"harder" than what?

That's sort of funny, being that most of Jesus' original apostles were murdered or martyred. It's not that hard today, in the U.S., to live openly as a Christian.

You might be letting the pressures of the world influence you too much. That is, it is not harder today to live openly as a Christian, but you may value non-Christians' perceptions, and so you, in particular, might be having trouble living openly as a Christian.

I would seek God's will for your life regarding this matter. I have Christian friends who are "afraid" of letting it out that they are Christian, because they are afraid of being seen as backward, uncool, silly, and all that. It is a simple bending to the pressure to conform to the world--and a simple weak faith in what is really important, which is God--that keeps them silent regarding their faith.

Hi - I've never figured that out. In the society that we live in 80+ percent of the people are Christian. 95+ percent of people believe in some from of religion. Christians control the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, most of the military, most of the governors, most of the mayors, most of the police officers.

How is it that the Overwhelming Majority of this country is being oppressed by a tiny minority??

A

Heck yeah it is! Everybody has bought into this "political correctness" b.s. and now it's like it's against the law to have standards anymore. In order to be accepted into society nowadays you have to have this all encompassing all inclusive "openess and acceptance of just about everything! You can't offend or hurt anybody's feelings. You can't say anything is right or wrong. Nobydy's accountable for their actions. Everybody's a victim. Every moral failure has a diagnosis. There is no good. There is no evil. People don't want a God because they don't want a judge. People don't want to be told to walk right and talk right and act right. They want to do what they feel like doing. Don't make them conform to the standard, change the standard. And when they have a tantrum because they can't get their way they want everybody to stop and feel sorry for them and change laws for them and understand them and make it easy for them and certainly get rid of Jesus, God, the bible, "religion", church, morality, etc. because it makes them uncomfortable and of course anything that makes us uncomfortable has to be wrong, right? Christianity says there is one God and we are not Him. Since He is God we need to find out who HE is and what HE wants from us. HE is the standard bearer, HE sets the mark and we are to strive to reach it regardless of what ever else we might want to do. HEis the creator, HE is our salvation and we are to live our lives in obedience to HIM, the only wise God and to give HIm the honor and glory and worship that is due to HIM. The flesh hates to hear it. we want His glory for ourselves and we don't want to obey anything but our lust. Regardless of what society thinks however, God is God and in the end every knee will bow and every ongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord.
