Very good question. This country is a country of immigrants, most of whom came here to escape poverty at home and live a better, freer life. Immigration rules are inherently discriminatory, favoring European, Cubans, & light skinned people, educated people and "political refugees". Most Illegals are Mexican, and most of our poor are better off than the majority of their countrypeople, financially.. Much of our agriculture would die w/o them working jobs citizens will not do at current wages. If the fresh produce farmers had to pay better wages, they could not compete with the world market (most of our produce is being imported already). And many of the workers return money to the families at homes to be able to live better lives, though still below the standard of living our poor enjoy.
The children who live here, some of them legals, need education , food, & health care to hope to live productive lives anywhere. For the children, I believe we need to make sure their basic needs are met. They must speak learn to speak English and dump this dual language crap. I do not think they should receive SS; it is an insurance plan payable only to those that contribute. Disability should not be paid, but basic health care should be (for everyone, not as it is now). And once educated, they should be encouraged to return home to help their people lead better lives. Also all aliens, legal or illegal, who are convicted of a felony should serve their sentences before being deported, and automatically returned to prison if they come back.
Still confused? Me too. There just has to be a middle ground between total amnesty and a no tolerance policy,

Out of the seventeen answers I read, you got one person to say yes. This country has Americans that are starving, homeless and jobless that don't qualify for public aid. But people of other nationalities come to this country and live better than most. It's a shame! I don't believe in the welfare system not only for the illegals but the legals as well. Has anyone ever heard of Monster? Companies of every kind are looking for workers and these lazy *** Americans sit around waiting for the 1st of the month. It's sickening to see them at Walmart with kids they can't care for and shopping carts loaded with name brand foods that I can't afford for my family. So you can imagine how I feel about giving those same benefits to people that don't belong here. Send them back!!! Immediately!

NO. It takes away from Citizens that need that aid. I got pregnant when I was 18, and at the same time my husband lost his job because he was not bilingual. We went in to get emergency assistance, food stamps, and WIC. We were turned down at the counter because we were white and had every resource available to us to get a job, and not need those things. We were tax payers and LEGAL citizens, and were turned down because we were white and NOT illegal Mexicans. They should not be able to get any of those things or free health care. They should HAVE to go thrue all the required channels to become LEGAL, so that they can rightfully get those things if they need them. That includes learning OUR language, LAWS, and anything else to make them decent citizens. I hated living on the Mexican border. It was hell. We only needed till my husband found a new job. He found one a month later, so it wouldn't have been that big of a strain on the economy now would it?

Of course not! What gives these people the right to their cake and eat it too? If they want public aid, become legal, and accept the rights and responsibilities that go along with being a citizen!

the fact of this difficulty is only money. case in point a nurse getting to an unlawful individual ought to somewhat ask for a social protection card or some state issued identity. yet they do no longer, as a results of fact they cope with their funds according to gives you. in the event that they recieved 20 million final twelve months serving illegals and that they start up no longer attending them this twelve months, their expenditures will drop significally, so as that they are going to get much less money. the comparable take place with illegals getting GED's, Medicare, college Loans, and so on.

I am all for amnesty for illegal immigrants of any nationality, but I also disapprove of anyone who is not a legal citizen receiving any public/government assistance.
