Obviously what we're doing now isn't working, especially in my state. We have tougher sentencing now, lots of advertising to try to get people to not drink and drive, roadblocks, etc., and they aren't working.

What do you think it will take to really get through to the people who are most likely to drink and drive, and get them to make different decisions and actions?

Interlocks on ALL vehicles. You can't reason with a drunk so there's no way to make them decide otherwise.

Another prohibition, but that's unconstitutional. People don't make the right decisions/actions after they've had just one drink because it already starts to take effect, so they drink more and more. Then they think they're "ok", so they go driving home like morons. They just need to stop drinking when they don't have someone to drive them home or to wherever, but people just don't have that kind of restraint in a social setting... Maybe bartenders need to start taking away more car keys?

A lot of people are very thick-headed. So it's hard to say what anybody can do to stop stupid actions people make. It's there life so they have choices. In this life time, I honestly don't think people who drinks won't ever listen (I wish) There's no point trying to find ways to stop people making these actions when you can't do nothing when it's there choice. Don't worry about it, let the "Bush" Or "Government" find ways. Which it will never happen.

Honest answer to the question? There is none. Something we can to to help reduce the cause, Have a key drop box at Bars and clubs to help reduce it. The people who are drunk do not have the keys. now for the people who get smashed at a party, or at their own home, theres not much you can do. Now if people are willing to pay for it when they get a car you can have devices installed in cars (does not matter what year) that work like a Breathalyzer. If your above the legal limit it will not allow the car to start.

It is an integral facet of our country that people are allowed to be stupid, yet they must face the consequences of their actions. There is no reasonable way to actually stop drunk driving completely. Their are lots of people with lots of ideas on how to decrease its occurrence, but each idea has its drawbacks, and most cost money, of which our government (local, state, and federal) is short on. So the short answer is no matter what you do, you can't completely stop drunk driving.

When someone is drunk they just don't think straight and don't think about any of the consequences. I wish something would get through to people who drink but what will, besides just making it illegal? Maybe if they were to get charged with attempted murder since they are highly likely to cause an accident!

One and done. Take away the license. If you get caught a second time driving drunk it would be without a license and you get 10 years.
