Honeydew is a melon and is also a secretion. The melon is round to slightly oval shape, typically 15-22 cm long. The flesh of a honeydew is pale green in colour, while the smooth peel ranges from greenish to yellow and the secretion is a sugar-rich sticky substance secreted by aphids and some scale insects as they feed on plant sap.

Honeydew is a sugar-rich sticky substance secreted by aphids and some scale insects as they feed on plant sap. Ants and wasps may eat honeydew (ants may even "milk" the honeydew from aphids), while honeybees gather it and process it into a dark, strong honey that is highly prized in parts of Europe and Asia for its reputed medicinal value. Aphids benefit from the presence of ants because they drive away predators such as lady beetles. Many trees host aphids that are a honeydew source. Honeydew can cause sooty mold on many ornamental plants, a bane of gardeners.

It is a melon like a cantalope except it is green on the inside. It's also about the same size as a cantalope. It's very juicy and very sweet.

It's the light green melon (with cream colored skin) that is commonly found. It has a texture similar to cantaloupe, but maybe a little sweeter.
