I don't think it's a good idea that would make your day longer at school and after about 7 hours you are no longer expecting new infomation you are becoming tried and it would be a complete waste of time. This suggestion has come up many times in the past and studies have been done to show it would not work. What you kids need is year round school so you don't forget everything during the summer.

Actually, based on the Q&A that I see on this site, kids need to attend school for 10 hours a day 7 days a week.

I already have a four day school week... but that's for university.
For high school and elementary school... 5 days is good. But I'm thinking as an adult. If I had kids, I'd want them out of my hair for as many days of the week as possible!

I'm all for a 6 day school week, or 5 day with only 2 weeks of summer vacation. but you only go to school for 10 years. Graduate at 16.

Depends on hours per a week.
But in my personal opinion, I do not like it because attending the school 5 days a week also teachs the kids a social lesson, and get a taste of "how busy the real life is."

It might work if the students are willing to go to school a full 10 hours a day, but if you are in elementary school your little mind can't take it. In other words too much infor. for little brains. Some people like to go all day(more than 8 hrs). Are U one of those people.

Very bad idea!!
Kids have nothing to do as it is, cant put kids to work these days. Kids on the streets causing problems is not good!
Last year one of ours went half days, this was ok..... kids need to learn what it will be like when they grow up though.
Boss can I only work four days and get paid for five......

They have that in France. They have Wednesdays off. Some high schoolers take classes on Saturday morning though. Seems to work for them. They also have a huge lunch break too.

I have long been out of school so it doesn't matter to me but I am sure my kids would love the idea. As long as the quality of education isn't effected, why not?

We Americans are declining as far as education. China, India and other countries are far more educated than us. Our children will be competing for jobs in the future with these countries. I say more education and better teachers.
