I ask because Snow season is about to start... and my puppies love to romp around outside, don't know if they will like the snow, but probably since the few rainy days we have had, they wanted to run around and frolick in it. The problem is my sliding glass door leads to my kitchen, not my garage. Does anyone have any suggestions of some kind of matting or carpeting to put down on my kitchen laminate flooring for the winter? Thanks for any input.

My dogs are all trained to stop at the door when their feet are wet and get them wiped with an old towel I keep by the door. If not, just get a large area rug for in front of the door.

You can pick up what ever length of runner you need at a home store. I pick up a 6 ft. piece every winter and that is what the dog steps on when she comes in. It also catches the the boot mess. My neighbor has 4 dogs that can run uin and out. She also keeps an old towel and wipes their feet with it before she lets them free.

I saw a dog once that was trained to wipe her feet (I saw it on TV and she actually wiped all four feet) before coming inside. Unfortunately I have no idea how you could train your dogs this so you could simply train them to wait just inside the door on an all weather carpet while you wipe their feet. That's what we do. There are also little booty things you can get for their feet which you could buy and take off right when your kids come in.

I think some kind of wet wipes would be best. If not, I know people that keep an old towel by the door and wipe the dogs when they come in, and it seems it work fine.

Didn't say how many puppies you have, but I would suggest a rug that you can wash, cause you might have to daily, and a couple old towels. Teach them to wait on the rug until you can wipe off their feet. This may sound like quite a teaching job, but I promise puppies learn quickly. Treats do miracles with training. Believe me if I can teach 3 poms, anyone can teach theirs. Good luck

What type of dogs do you have? The less hair they have on their feet, the less they will track in. We just keep an old towel by the door to wipe their feet off when they come inside. I hope that helps.

I don't get snow, but I do get rain which makes mud. I have just a plain indoor/ outdoor rug right inside my backdoor. Before the dog comes in, I get a towel and dampen it with warm water. I straddle the dog to keep him in position and I take each foot, one at a time and rub it down. Works well.

My uncle stops his dog at the door and wipes his feet with a baby wipe or a wash cloth before letting him enter the house. The dog lets him do it.

I put the little shoes on my dogs when they go out and take them off when they come in. The bad part is that after a while you have to wash the shoes or stuff will get inside them.

We have a hose next to the door and I've trained our dogs to take turns hosing each other off before coming inside. Once inside, I've left a blow dryer and comb for their personal use.
