IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH TWO PEOPLE WORKING, IT SHOULD BE 50--50 WITH EVERYTHING.

No. It was set up that way by men since the beginning of time because they were the physically stronger, and thought they should be served. Women didnt have much choice or they'd be over powered by men in a physical way. Going back to the caveman days here. Often people say men make the best chef's, I mean you rarely see a very famous female chef, today a little more, but never like Julia Child. Women were made to cook so lack the desire needed to do it well. Men always had A CHOICE whether to cook or not. I dont agree that men make the best chefs, but they are recognized more easily, well, I guess because they're men, but the best chefs are always anyone who wants to cook, and cook well for the joy of others, and even themselves. Good cooking to you!

Nope. But if you love doing it, do it! I'm a stay-at-home for the time being, and every morning I try to figure out what to make for dinner so I can have it ready when my husband comes home from work. I love cooking anyway, and most of the time he loves it (as long as it's not vegetarian!)

There's a really neat book called "Perfection Salad" that details how women in the late 1800's-early 1900's came to be better cooks and empowered them. And that's where luncheons and experimenting with new foods came from. And remember, most professional chefs are still men. But women embrace their cooking more than ever and have been finding their way into professional kitchens now. Think Julia Child or Alice Waters!

If the woman doesn't like to cook and the man does, he can cook and the woman can help or do the dishes. Or you can take turns. No, women are not suppose to cook.

I think that everyone should learn the basics of cooking and if you enjoy it or enjoy entertaining you will learn more. I work full time but my husband has longer hours-I cook all the time. Besides, there are so many complete frozen meals- we had shrimp teriyaki the other night for example, everything in bag, just quick stirfry it up in a pan with olive oil- piece of cake-10 minutes. As a favor to your partner or spouse- its like any other job in a household nowdays, share.....

I think anyone in the house who wants to cook...should. My fiance and I both work full-time, but I choose to do the cooking. I use less groceries, cook a little healthier, and manage to keep the kitchen cleaner so it takes up less of my time. He however, tends to cook better, and be more experimental with things.

I think everyone should learn how to cook. At least the basics. But, no, I don't expect that women should always cook.

Traditionally women did the cooking, men did the work and brought the money into the household, gone are those days, and good riddance. Any good partnerships work where the work load is spread, given both parties are out working

Yep. I agree with those who've said YES!

Women should cook and clean for their husbands, or lovers. That's how is was back in the old days, when life was so much easier! Now everyone wants to be equal?!

I always considered cooking to be somewhat of a survival skill.

All in all, is this supposed to be some sort of question to rile up the feminists? If you like reading irina-c's re-cap of Cosby re-runs, ask away. Otherwise, think through the question you want to ask.
