(the Dr.said atleast 20 blows to the head. The Dr. said if it had been an average 16 year old it would have killed him. my son is 6'2 and weighs 240. He has never hit anyone or been in a fight. He said he keeps playing over in his head. The week before he had intervened at lunch time in a fight, trying to stop it, he didnt know either parties, wrong place wrong time, he just told the kids(they were younger) not to fight and get back to class, well one of the kids that was beating on the smaller kid(there was 2 more) retaliated againt my son and had half the wrestling team help organize it and carry it out,by being look outs and preventing any others of helping him out. What should I do, should I file police charges or will it make it worse. The school first gave the other boy a 3 day supension, until I thru a fit, then they gave him a lengthier suspension, they would not tell me how long, the dr. and I do not think the school is taking this serious because of his size

If you're 100% that your son is telling the truth, and it sounds like you are, then I strongly encourage you to contact the police immediately, report the assault and battery, and tell them you want to file charges. They will investigate and determine who was involved in the incident and can be charged.

Quite frankly, I also advise you to contact local television stations and newspapers, once you've involved the police. This kind of thing is ridiculous, and those kids need not just to be held accountable under the law, but also embarassed (and their parents embarassed) in the media.

Prepare to file civil charges against the responsible parties, too. Hit them in their wallets. They should have to pay for all of your son's medical expenses, plus the pain and suffering he has experienced.

I'm so sorry you and your son have to deal with this, and I wish you much luck and a speedy resolution.

So where were the teachers/moderators thse kids sound like trouble. I'd
send the party involved the medical bills. Schools don't want to get
involved. When my child had his eye scratched (just missing the cornea)
called me at work and said he needed to go to a doctor. Anyway the child
who did it was told to sit down several times and to stop swinging his
jacket this happened during role call 3 teachers present. I would have
disciplined that child after the 2nd time he disobeyed, I was not reimbursed
for lost work time or medical bills. My child could have had his cornea
scratched. I don't blame your son for intervening, after all "It takes a Village".
Good luck and pursue this matter. I wonder what those kids parents are
going to do with their monsters.

Of course you should file charges! You can't just let this slide. These other kids need to be held responsible for what they've done. And if you wait too long to file charges, the police may think you were serious because you didn't act quickly enough.

hell yes file a complaint. what happens if these boys get away with it? you'll have in essence a gang of snot nose kids beating up someone else until they kill someone. I am a big man, 6'4" and 202 lbs and getting hit still hurts like hell. I've been this big since 6th grade and got into a fight with three guys in 8th grade. I beat up one of them pretty bad, but then his brother(who was 17) and all his friends jumped me. I told them if they all started hitting me they'd better hide, because I'd catch them alone at one time or another. i got my *** kicked pretty bad that day. I still have the twisted nose to prove it. to make a long story short at 24 I finally beat Jeremy Matons *** into a pulp (10 years later) I beat every last one of them into the ground and got arrested twice doing it. for your sons sake, file a report so the cops can do what your kid wants to do, otherwise he may.

Definitely file charges. You have to let these kids (and their parents) know that you are serious and you will not let them treat people like that. I would also consider filing a civil suit to make the parents pay for the medical costs.

Also, if you are not satisified with what the school is doing, go directly to the school superintendant. Raise hell until they do something about it.

Definitely file criminal charges. His size shouldn't matter. Just because he is a big boy doesn't mean he wasn't hurt. Let the school and these other kid's parents know that you mean business! School is supposed to be a safe place for kids, not a war zone!

What if next time it is an average 16 year old? Of course you need to file charges. I'm surprised the Doctor that treated him didn't phone the police.

first of all, your son had surgical operation and you're apprehensive approximately whilst he will have the potential to return to college by way of soreness? Did the docs not prescribe painkillers of any sort? i've got had surgical operation before, or maybe a low dose of prescription painkillers could desire to be sufficient to get him back into college interior a pair days. The fault for the extremely injury is thoroughly with the youngster who elbowed your son in the tummy. He in all probability could have had to bypass into surgical operation in spite of ways immediately he became taken to the college health center, by way of fact as you pronounced, you weren't talked approximately as to return p.c.. him up till after he have been in the health center for sort of 30 minutes, and no college health center that i've got ever heard of is provided to the two preclude or cope with a fluid accumulation like your son had. So, that's extremely in all probability that on an identical time as the college's action (or loss of action) made you're son's concern somewhat worse, the only in all probability distinction is that he in all probability could have been in the college health center for an further quarter-hour or so. Writing a grievance to the college, or maybe some thing extra open like a letter to the college board or the editor of the interior sight paper, could in all probability be sufficient. not writing up an incident checklist is iffy, if no person observed it, and one youngster elbowing yet another is infrequently an 'altercation' and ought to definitely additionally be an twist of destiny, so i don't think of that there is a lot you may income from criminal action previous according to probability scientific costs (and that's given which you reside in the U. S. the place you ought to pay for wellness care).
