It is clear to me that Paul frequently contradicts Jesus' words( JC:" Obey no man" vs. Paul: "Obey the laws of men".) and he very often speaks on issues that Jesus never spoke to at all.(women cover your head when praying) WHY BELIEVE IN PAUL?
Was he actually an agent provocateur?

Paul had his own agenda, didn't he. I tend to believe that he may have selected who would write the letters now included in the bible. I think that it was Paul that invented sin, hell and Satan. God or Jesus would never condemn anyone to an eternity of fire. Just my opinion.

Jesus very much stated to render unto Ceaser what is Ceasers.

He was telling us point blank to pay taxes and obey the laws of the government. This was not a new point and Paul was simply teaching the same thing.

Women cover your head is way more in depth and you need to do a study of the church and the culture at this time to understand the head covering thing.

The pagen church (temple) at the time had full time prostitutes on duty inside its walls. The women had shaved heads or very short hair. The male prostitutes had long hair.

Paul was telling the men and the women (the verse mentions both here) to not conform to the fashionable look, but to remain different and set apart from the pagen society that they were surrounded by.

In our modern language, it could have been stated to the men and women to not try and look like the opposite sex, stay true to your own gender. Jesus never addressed this particular problem because it was a regional fashion question and not a question about the most important message and that was Jesus was here to save us from ourselves.

Paul did not contradict Jesus message in any way, he takes great pains to make sound arguments about why Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah. Paul had an additional burdon of teaching former pagens how to live in a whole new way and he cared deeply for these "young Christians" and took time to teach them about even the little stuff, to help them grow in their faith and their relationship with God.

Jesus said return Caesar's things to Caesar and God's things to God. So he didn't say obey no man. Paul's teachings do not contradict Jesus'. They under inspiration explain them, as do those of Peter, John, James, Jude. Peter does not view Paul's teachings as rival to Jesus'. Please see 2 Peter 3: 15, 16.
It is only after the death of the apostles that certain ones were successful in trying to separate the Christian teaching into different theologies, but to the early Christians they were taught as unified. Anyone who tried to separate them was corrected 1 Corinthians 1:1-17.

:o) It does seem to me that too much emphasis is put on the books penned by Paul. That's a rather difficult subject... I can't say anything more, because I don't have wisdom on this.

Jesus overcame the tantrums that the rest of us experience when confronted by authority figures.

He made a public spectacle out of them when he ascended on high!

...and not leading a rebellion it can hardly be said that he provoked one either.

He spoke what the Spirit of Christ gave him to speak and the other Apostles verified his Apostleship and writings
