I am starting to freelance marketing and advertising services. Of those of you in similar professions, what resources have you found to provide your best leads? I'm not looking for "referrals" or "cold calling" - I'm meaning, "newspapers", "phone book" "industry journals" etc. The more specific, the more helpful it would be....

These days, the Internet can always get you the attention you want.

But don't neglect the good old phone book. People still use it all the time.

I wouldn't exactly recommend newspapers because most people read the news online now.

Specific industry journals are also a good choice, that way you can target a specific group of people.

It sounds like you already knew the answer to your question.

Good luck!

depends on your audience. the largest impact is made by TV advertising - but it can be costly even if you buy cable. try t pinpoint who your target market is and advertise to that market. Newspaper is/was good but newspaper's readership is down. and there is always the internet. word of mouth is still the cheapest and best so when you get a customer take very good care of him they are expensive to replace and so easy to keep
