Two answers to your question. One, in Bible days, the wrist was considered part of the hand. So when it says "hands", it is indeed referring to the wrists. However, on the other hand, these miracles that you are talking about, even though they may be real to someone who beholds them, they are not from God anyway. They are what the Bible refers to as "lying wonders". Hope that helps you some.

Yesterday there was a question asked that if you were Satan how would you go about swaying people away from the truth. I would think one of the ways would be to bring doubt on the true miracles like the stigmata. One way to do this would be to say there were no wounds in the hands but, only in the wrists. I don't know but it is a thought. The people who say the stigmata is null and void because the wounds are in the wrists and not in the hands do not believe in the Shroud of Turin either where the blood pools on the wrists rather than the hands so it is kind of a smorgasbord ya know--just pick what you want to believe I guess except for Padre Pio. Read his story--a true stigmata.

Jesus was nailed to a stake or pole, the Bible even says tree, nails would have went through the wrist which were considered part of the hand, arms and hands would have been nailed together over the head above the person making breathing more difficult for the victim they were torturing. God does not work in that way, stigmata, he is not giving signs as Jesus said; a twisted and crooked generation, always looking for signs. Remember what God's word says about Satan, always transforming himself into an angel of light it is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. 2 Corinthians 11:14,15 and this is proof that Satan has false religions and not all religions lead to God as some believe.

Sadly, you're mistaken.
The fellow who thought he "proved" Christ was crucified through the wrists was working on cadavers. Dead guys. Dead weight is different from a living breathing person who can use their feet to hold themselves up. Plus, the arms were lashed to the cross.
It is true though that not all stigmata is genuine. AND, I've seen some genuine stigmata through the wrists. So? Just more of that God guy trying to make sure we live by "faith" and not by "proof."
To the perso who said stigmata only happens to clergy you are WAY off base. Out of over 300 church approved instances of stigmata, there has only been one stigmatized priest. St. Pio.

Well if you don't believe in God to begin with what does it matter to you. Stigmata manifestations are not supported biblically by the way. Believe what you want.
If you want to refute miracles, try the miracles in the bible ok? But then again if you accept the premise of the possibility of God existing then you have to accept the miraculous. If not what is the point of your hate and intolerance other than you find it amusing to elevate yourself in your own eyes? It does not detract from the faith of those of us who believe. Faith is a subjective experience for which you have no hope of knowing as long as you do not want there to be a God that just might hold you accountable to loving others rather than poking at their beliefs. Hate on oh mighty omniscient one.

It may be a fact that the crucified was inflicted in the wrist and not in the palm of the hand. I believe it doesn't matter where the stigmata takes place, in the palm of the hand or wrist, but it is up to God where He decides to place them. I never saw an actual display of the Stigmata, but as a Franciscan Brother, I believe that St. Francis of Assisi did receive them as witnessed by those who were his closest companion.

So you asked a question that certainly has some merits, til you state that they may be rubbish, I hate that when a good question comes up.
Yes, it is true of what you say, but lets remember, you are speaking of one religion, in Christianity, that it is a big one, but could it be that one or more people just get themselves so physied up about their beliefs that they actually manifest this wounds themselves. And because it fits the advantage of the church for their doctrine they choose to use it as miracles.
Kind of like some of the science we have seen come and go of these past couple of decades.
Its not rubbish to those experience it, and it certainly is something to see and watch should you have the ability to manifest such wounds upon your body. Not miracles, but it something isn't it.
This may be the way this or that person exhibits their devotion to their beliefs.

no but the stigmata might be. Miricales are real. If there is a God he is a god of miricales and to say that miracles are gone or unreal is to say God doesn't exist. But the Stigmata is somthing I would question. What is its purpose?
And yes the nails were through both the hands and the wrists inorder to support his weight.
But still I would question your final supostition that miricals are rubbish simply because this one maybe.

There are some cases of hysterically induced stigmata, in which case, the wounds appear where the person ""thinks" they should be. In cases of varied stigmata, the wounds are where they are supposed to be. Just because there are some "false" cases, doesn't make all of them "rubbish." There are counterfeit $20.00 and $100.00 bills out there, but that doesn't make all of them bad. Just the ones from N. Korea. :)
