Both dogs and cats will sometimes eat grass if they have an upset stomache as this will induce vomiting and hopefully eliminate the problem for them.
As for the rear end problem, sometimes that happens... it really varies from dog to dog. Keep him trimmed to a shorter coat, at least around the rear and hopefully that will eliminate your need to constantly bath. I have to do this with my American Eskimo. Doesn't have to be shaved, just short trimmed is enuf.
You should see your vet about feeding suggestions as it's likely your dog is reacting to something in his food. Changing the food is a good idea, but you may have to try a few different ones before finding the one that works out best for your dog.

First, any health problem needs to be addressed by a vet. Second, dogs eat grass because they like it, no other reason. Dogs sometimes throw up after eating grass because a) they ate too much of it. b) a long stringy piece got caught in their throat. c) the grass was treated and the dog ate a bunch of chemicals (poison). As for the food: Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. Well for starters....is the hair around your dogs butt cut or shaved? That could be the reason why his poop is stuck on his butt....The reason any dog rubs or drags their butts on the floor is to get a gland inside their butt to produce more mucus, which provides the dog help when going poop. I know it sounds gross.....but it is true, they drag their butt to get their butt glands working....LOL. But the reason why he eats grass could just mean he has an upset stomach, or maybe he isn't going poop enough and he has cramping because he is constipated. but do go to your vet to make sure that there isn't anything else wrong.

When a dog scrapes its behind on the floor or grass (sometimes called "flop bottom") it's usually because he has worms or some other kind of intestinal parasite. (The eating of grass is usually a dog's way of trying to medicate itself when it's not well.) Take a sample of his poop to his vet and have the vet do a "fecal float" exam to see if ther dog has worms or parasites. the vet can then prescribe medication to correct the problem.
Anal sacs may also be the issue, in which case the vet can empty the sacs and provide treatment for it.

Take him to the vet ASAP.
It sounds like he is in pain. He is eating grass to help him digest his food, and rubbing his bottom on the ground to try and ease the pain.
Im sure a vet will prescribe something like a laxative to help him get all his feces out.

in all probability. those printouts they provide you continually have that important factors on them with regard to the fee probable going over the projected estimate. It occurs all of the time and that they do get away with it. I took in a peke to be neutered final fall and the fee went up from $a hundred and fifty to over $six hundred. i understand you adore your canine. yet your canine is 13. She is nearing the tip of her existence span. i could evaluate that till now doing so lots greater extravagant or costly scientific procedures. the very superb vet interior the worldwide can not enhance a canine's existence span to that of a human. and since the canine is geriatric, she would be in a position to in all probability have scientific themes that are in simple terms no longer fixable at her age. shop her satisfied and painfree to the excellent of your skill. yet understand that she would be in a position to't be made youthful lower back no remember what you spend.

Keep the hair on his butt cut or trimed short. they eat grass to settler there stomach that is what i was told. You might want to check his poop for worms if he wipes on the floor. Dogs will rub there butt on the floor or grass when they have worms. Then there are dogs who will just wipe there butt to be clean I used to have one that did that and he would wipe more on himself than anyhting but cutting the hair around his butt helped and it will help you to. If you feed him wet food switch to dry

It is safe to give him Metamucile, which will soften his stool, yet add a little bulk, so it isn't sticky..For a small dog, it needs only about 1/2 teaspoon, sprinkled over his food..Use the non-flavored ones.. Often a little canned pumpkin will work, but some dogs won't eat it..

Definatly take him to the vet. If it is a food related issue your vet should be able to recommend a good food for him. If not related to food then the vet will be the logical choice to figure it out.
