Continuation of a conversation over coffee, wanted other views. If people believe in God, a presence bigger than themselves that they can't see they just know it to be. Why are they so quick to shoot down other unseen things. Ghosts and auras and other like things. I guess you had to be there for the conversation but that is the jist of it. Thanks.

foolish people close their ears and open their mouths.

that's in the Bible......

people need to remember that the Bible was written over 2000 years ago, and not by God, but by people who God communicated through. how many of you would like for your friends to write the story of your life?

I think that's a good question. The answer is this: Christians are told not to have anything to do with "ghosts," "spirits," mediums, fortunetellers, etc., because these things are actually given power by Satan. So Christians do not believe in "ghosts;" instead, when someone tells us they've seen a "ghost" or they think a place is "haunted," we know this is really the work of the devil. It's not really the dead person's spirit that's haunting a place or person. It's actually a demon that's impersonating the dead in order to terrorize or confuse the living. In the worst cases, demons act like "spirit guides" and mislead many away from God.

To Christians, the presence and power of Satan is undeniable. We believe he's the "prince and power of the air," in other words, he currently controls much of what happens here on earth. This is the reason why society is so evil and there is so much suffering and disease.

So it's not that we are (or should be) "shooting down" ghosts, haunts, etc.; it's that we understand the true source of their power.

Peace.

What most people call "ghosts" are unclean spirits, attempting to trap you. Once a believer's body is dead, his/her spirit is with God. As fare as auras, what do you think halos are? Just because something is called by another name doesn't make it unreal. But, you can't see radio waves, yet you turn on the radio expecting to hear something. There are many things unseen, but true. Just watch out that you don't fall for the wrong ones. Even Satan can appear as an angle of light. No. 6:24

because if you believe in God you must believe what he says and he says for everyone there is just one end. Death , then judgment--nothing more. The idea of ghosts is misleading as it gives people the idea that even if you were a sinful person you did not have to go to hell--you could just hang around here and haunt people. Auras and things of that nature lead to belief in Eastern forms of religion that talk about the Godhead inside of us without God putting it there so there again it is misleading from the truth.

That is a good question and to say you believe in God and or the bible and don't believe in spirits is silly. There is much power out there. Tricks and not. The preists of Pharo (excues my spelling please) were able to copy nearly all of Moseses miricales. The apostles were unable to cast out a spirit because they had not Fasted and Prayed enough. How can this not be real when there are so many examples of it.

Then to top it of the bible tells us that 1/3 of the host of heaven was cast out with satan to the earth before even Adam and Eve were placed in the garden. What do you think these people are doing now that they have no purpose in their existance. Sitting there happily watching us prepare to return to our Father? I think not. "They want us to be misriable like unto themselves."
I aggree to say there is a god but no Ghost or spirits or power other than Gods is very silly.

Muslims believe in the Unseen which comprises of everything humans can't see such as God, Angles, Jinn.

God is identified through His creation, and once the existence of God is confirmed by analyzing the order that exists in the universe, then whatever God said (existence of angels and the Jinn) is also believed.

The astronomers in the old age, used to know about the matters of the heavens through Jinn. Qur'an tells about Jinn who try to eavesdrop in the matters of heaven and meteors are sent after these Jinn to make them run away. Whatever these Jinn hear they tell that to people like astronomers who then have hints about the future.

I'm a Christian and I do believe in ghosts. There's the Holy Ghost for one! LOL. Actually though, in the bible the prophet Samuel was resurrected by the witch of Endor so that he could answer King Saul's question. I'd qualify Samuel as a ghost then AND i'd say that was a REAL WITCH if you ask me. The bible has EVERYTHING in it man. It's not just YOU'RE GOING TO HELL scriptures, but it's actually a lot of interesting things in there, even a serial killer! Go to biblegateway.com and look up the witch of endor so you can read the whole story on your own. :o)

Where do you think belief in other unseen things comes from?

Some religions are very adament in their belief of ghosts, and others of auras.
Some religions are contrary to a dead person walking on earth (ghost) and so they cannot believe both their religion and in a ghost.
Some believe they cannot believe in anything they cannot see (and to them I say.... good luck breathing!)

I do believe that ghost, demons whatever you want to call them exist. I have never seen one but have felt the oppression of them. I have never seen God with my eyes but in a supernatural way I do know he exists. Only another believer knows what I'm talking about.

each individual person can have their own opinions regarding a variety of subjects. however please understand I personally see evidence for GOD. no one doubts the wind exists for although one can not see the wind everyone sees the effects of the wind therefore the wind exists. GOD is like the wind look at the glories and wonders in the heavens and earth these are the handiwork's of GOD. though GOD like the wind is invisible to our 5 senses. have seen other phenomena and many can be seen.

I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I do know the Scripture refers to how even the devils believe in God and tremble in His presence. So, there's no doubt in my mind that there are certain things out there bred of negativity and evil that torture us at times. have I ever experienced a "haunting"? No, but I won't totally deny their existence either; merely drive it off in Jesus' name!
