My car won't start despite a new alternator, battery and water pump. Not to mention a new wiring harness, starter, and spark plugs no more than 3 years ago. I'm running out of options and I've been out of money. It's been finicky for the last 6 mo. (white smoke out the tail pipe, have to pump the gas to get it started, rpm fluxuating up and down, stuttering, occasionally dying in the road if I'm not quick enough on the gas) but now, all it does is click when I turn the key. Any suggestions? John Paul, are you out there?

where did you get the car from? Obviously its no good. That's why i never buy a used car. Especially one with no warranty. Too many people on the road today don't take care of there car. Rough riding the car and no maitenence

Nine times out of ten, when nothing happens at all at turning the key, it's a battery or the cables loose attaching to the battery. Test the battery, clean and tighten the cable clamps. The other issues you mention are signs I would think of a blown gasket, it seems like water is getting into the combustion chamber, but you probably ould have run out of coolant by now if that was the case. Have you checked coolant lately?

Oh boy can I tell you the problems I've seen! The white smoke is not normal for a Maxima. I have customers that drive 140 miles each way every day and now at 450,000 miles I almost talked then into a new Maxima. How many miles?jp.hudson@sbcglobal.net

I have to replace the starter on my 95 almost annually. Your starter probably went south on you. It wont fix it from running crappy but that sounds like one of your problems.
