Why did they stop making the Toyota Cressida it was a good car?

I own an 88 Cressida and wondered the same thing, I was told by a friend that the Cressida was the pivot car that took Toyota into Lexis.

Well like the other great models they have- they just discontinued them, They have went overboard- and redesigned alot of cars - Ex: Cressida>is now a Avalon - Celica>Matrix- I guess they call it advancing into the future!!!
