Hi! I just went to Hawaii in July. My family and I have been there many times before. However, this was our first time staying at a condo near Waikiki Beach. We thought it would be fun and different. It was definitely a great experience.

We stayed at the ResortQuest Pacific Monarch. It's about 2 blocks from the Beach and right on one of the main streets in Waikiki. Location wise, it was very convenient. Everything was closeby and within walking distance. There a several restaurants in the area. (Went to Chili's for some Mai Tais and good eats.) There's also a grocery store about a block and a half down and across the street from the hotel. They'll have everything you'll need to stock up the kitchen of your condo. And if you're looking for inexpensive gift shopping, head to the ABC store that's also across the street. If you're bringing kids, this hotel is pretty close to the Honolulu Zoo, just at the end of the street.

The condo/hotel offer several amenities, including: a rooftop pool & spa, lounge area w/a TV (also on the top floor), and kitchens fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, full sized frig., rice cooker, and a coffee maker. They also supply the dishware and silverware. (Although, I recommend buying paper plates, napkins, and plastic utensils. Easy clean-up. You're on vacation, you don't want to spend it doing the dishes.) :-) By the way, they do have maid service, too, but they don't touch the kitchen/frig. They'll just scrub the countertop.

As for the cost, we went though AAA Travel. If you're a member, you can get a pretty good discount with them. When we went in July, they offered the 5th night free. And they also gave us a pretty good deal on a rental car, too. Now if you're not a AAA member, I think you can also get a discount if you make reservation online through the hotel's main website.

I hope this helps you out a bit. Take care and have a wonderful vacation in Hawaii. Aloha! :-)

Depends on your budget. If money is no object, I recommend either the Moana Surfrider, the Royal Hawaiian, or the Hale Kulani. They have the finest service to be found in Waikiki. Rooms at the Moana and the Royal Hawaiian are smaller, as they are older hotels. The Hale Kulani is only 25 years old or so.

The Outrigger Hotel Group has numerous properties in Waikiki at all price ranges. Check their website.

One thing I do recommend is NOT spending lots of money on a fancy hotel. You're in Hawaii...how much time are you going to spend in your room???
