The King James bible the oldest complete written bible was transkated to english language by about 50 scholars in the 1600's these scholars wanted to know the truth. Do the research for yourself. If you think about it everyone always goes off of what they think....but know one really cares about what the Lord thinks. The ONLY way to find out the truth is throuugh the reading of the word of GOD. the BIBLE......People, READ for a doctor can only become a doctor by studying, a lawyer by studying, a scientist by study so the ONLY way the the Lord God of Israel talks to us is by His word and no other way. READ, study. and pray for understanding, becasue no matter what ANYONE thinks the word of God is the ONLY truth there is. And EVERY man and womans dead and alive will know that God is God in a time to come.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Tyndale translated into English in the 1500's; as much as 90% of his work was carried over into the KJV.
A lot of manuscripts have been found since 1611, which make for a more accurate translation than was possible then.
The KJV of the Bible has a great deal of theological bias in its translation, which often leads to people's misunderstanding texts, especially when it comes to those promoting the trinity.
The best example of this can be found in the text that was added to the KJV at 1 John 5:7.

WRONG!
The king james PERversion is NOT the oldest complete Bible in English. It was not even the first "authorized" version. Please study a little and STOP LYING.
To John Wycliffe belongs the honor of organizing the first complete translation of the Bible into Middle English in the 1380s. The translation was a collaborative effort, and it is not clear which portions are actually Wycliffe's work. Church authorities officially condemned the translators of the Bible into vernacular languages and called these heretics Lollards. Despite their prohibition, revised versions of Wycliffite Bibles remained in use for about 100 years.
Tyndale's Bible
The Great Bible: the first "authorised version"
Matthew's Bible
Taverner's Bible
The Geneva Bible
The Bishops' Bible
The Douai-Rheims Version
ALL of these PREDATE the kjv. You are so misinformed.

I believe the bible is the word of Paul and a few other men hand selected by Paul and later on by the Catholic Church. There are many things in there that I would never believe that God or Jesus would say or do. Sin and hell are two of those things.

I certainly beleive Jesus was real, and his miracles were real, and he is a divine being sent to bring Mankind closer to God. As a deist, however, I am very skeptical of the verity of any religious text. I think the Bible has skewed Jesus' image and purpose on Earth, and of course, one can just about imagine how many times over the ages man has embellished any truth for his own agenda. I am also a former Christian. I enjoy the teacings of Jesus, and he is my model for life. I do not agree with much else though.

No, I think He would prefer for people to believe, AND follow. He actually told a parable about this, I just read it the other day...*looks it up*...oh yes, Luke 4:4-8. People who believe AND follow wind up "bearing fruit" 100 times over what was sown.

People believe in Jesus because they've been brainwashed from birth into accepting his name as the symbol of all that is good and holy.
As for "his word," you're just taking the traditional literalist view that scripture is the "inspired word of god," and I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

I appreciate what you are saying but we don't talk that way anymore and some of the newer versions are more accurate and easier to read.
If you cannot understand what your reading then how is it doing you any good? I believe everyone should memorize the bible.
From an understandable newer version.

If you want the truth, learn Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin, and read the ORIGINAL documents, not the lousy crap the KJV 1611 translators turned out.

Not everyone believes in Jesus as the son of God. They may believe he existed, and had good ideas, but they do not all believe he was divine. Myself included.
