Hi there;
What you describe is something similar to what my son gets when he has been laying on a lawn. Only the areas that have come in contact with the lawn are effected.
What the doctor told me was my son has a contact pressure allergy to mown grass.
What you have to do is change your detergent to hypo allergic detergent with no added perfumes. Change your bed linens everyday.
The reason why it "disappears" is because most likely when he gets up, he baths/showers/ then changes his clothes.
I would also rinse your wash a second time during the cycle and avoid any perfumed anti static disposable fabric softeners.

He might be allergic to the sheets or something on the sheets, if he does not get the reaction during the day and the sheets are washed in the same detergent as his clothes then it's not the detergent. Are the sheets regular cotton or some other fabric? He could be allergic to silk or flannel - if that's what the sheets are made of. Do you share a bed? You said partner but not if you live together. If you share a bed and you don't get the marks than it's not bedbugs. Another issue that's possible is pressure hives (my wife gets them) If there is any pressure on her skin for longer than a few minutes she starts to get very itchy - if that's the case try Sarna...it's a lotion that's sold at drug stores for sensitive skin and should help. Good Luck!

Either he's allergic to something and is catching a bad case of hives,or he has herpes.Sorry not trying to be rude,but my sister has it and if she doesn't have any medicine she gets an outbreak that comes and goes.She will wake up it's itching a couple of hours later she tells me it's gone,but now she's on med's that is helping her get through all this but there is no cure.Tell him to get it checked out when it occurs again so doctors can tell him exactly what it is.

You should also with other advice change sheets at least once a week and if yu have a vacuum it won't hurt to use it on mattress in case he is allergic to dust mites that can be hidden everywhere.
