Be upfront and tell him how it makes you feel then ask how it makes him feel to buy you tihngs, explain to him the pros and cons and how it won't make a differnece if he did or didn't get you things.
if he's buying you things it can mean two things.
1 he's utterly in-love with you
2 He's made a mistake and wants to pay for it
However if you know he's a good man then it's #1.
Talk to him, it will bring you closer.

If you don't want it, don't take it. It's that simple. I wouldn't let a guy buy me anything unless it was my birthday, even if he were rich. Come to think of it, I wouldn't date a rich guy, either.
