Size wise they stop growing noticeably after about a year, if you think of the 6 month mark as the start of the "teenage years" then it makes sense. They will still grow after the teen time, just like humans, but it will be far slower if at all - although they will still be able to grow "out" as long as they are alive.

Most cats have finished growing by 12-18 months. I have a cat with Nowegian Forest cat genes and he continued to grow in length till he was about four years old. So it can depend on the genetic makeup of the cat. I think Maine Coon cats also continue growing beyond the usual 18 months.

Cats are like any other mammal. Cats each have a different personality and will grow to be products of their environments and upbringing. I have owned cats my entire life and most have been males. I have yet to have one grow-up to be unloving. It's been my experience if you treat them with lots of love and affection; a cat will grow-up to return it ten-fold. My current buddy "Dusty" is almost 2 years old. He's as lovable and affectionate now as when he was a kitten. I adopted him when he was 6 weeks old. I made sure I held, petted, and played with him as much as possible. Today, he’s very loving and affectionate. He loves to play too. So, my advice is show your new kitten as much love as you can and he’ll grow to be a dear friend who will be around for many years.

cats at 6 months old start puberty, which may equal to around the human age 10.

mine is 3 and it seems to still be growing or else the older one is getting smaller
