My bedroom is a sqare, the only outside wall with windows has a coved ceiling. the cuve ends just a few inches above the windows. The ceiling and walls are all white. How do I paint that wall with the windows, without the wall ending up looking very short as I would stop painting at the curve? Unless I paint that 1 wall and the ceiling all 1 color and the other 3 walls a different color. I didn't want to paint the ceiling but I don't think I can get away with NOT painting it. I want to use sage greens, burgandys, golds, and dark blues in my color sceam for the room. So what color should I put on the ceiling if I paint it? A lighter color then the other 3 walls or darker? Or should I stay with a nutral beige or warm tan/brown?

do all the walls and ceiling in the sage green . stencil on a gold leafed boarder on all walls but the cove one . go with a Burgundy or navy blue carpet and use the one not on the floor for bedding for your trim I'd go with a beige or even antique it with the gold leaf depending on the look your going for.

I would paint the celling and wall with the curve a lighter color, and the other 3 walls a darker color.
The combination of colors will accent the wall and celling, because it's a unique feature.
Staying with lighter colors will help keep the room looking bigger.

Ceiling first. A real time saver with painting is this awesome edge tool that has wheels. Instead of SLOWLY doing the edges on the baseboard and where the wall and ceiling meet you use this edge tool and run it along the wall, you get a perfect line without getting paint on areas you dont want. Be sure to "cut in" the corners with a paint brush first then paint with your roller.

If you don't paint the one wall a softer color as Jazzmoney suggested, then maybe paint it so far up into the curve and then end it with a stenciled pattern, maybe that arches up in the middle or v's up it the same color as the wall--it could enen fade out....
