I had 2 poms, a cream colour and a pure black one for 12 & 14 years. Cutting the hair around the paws is mostly a good idea. but not to much hair or they look silly. I use to cut mine's hair because a lot of times after they have been out for a walk they would lick their paws to clean them. This is ok if they haven't been walking on grass that has been sprayed with any type of weed killer or any type of grass fertilizer. Poms can have sensitive stomachs. Please remember, NEVER hit or spank a dog. They will love you all their life.

First, it's spelled "pomeranian". Second, the fur on the paws can be trimmed very close for the fall/winter to keep them cleaner in mud/ rain/ snow. But usually the groomer won't do that unless you ask her first...

I have my Poms feet trimmed for looks and cleanliness.
Same goes for my Australian Shepherd.
