How do I know when my cat is in labor? What is a mucus plug? What does a mucus plug look like? I think she lost it yesterday. please help

Well yesterday at 11am in the morining she had a snot like thing come out. That was 25 hours ago. Do cats stop eating before labor? I heard that some stop and others become ravenous. It must be her first litter. She is probably only about 1 year old. She adopted me 4 days ago and the vet said that she should have them any day.

They like to "nest". She'll try to go find a place to hide. You may need to be there to assist - sometimes, the kittens don't actually come off the cord all the way - it's like picking an apple - it's the coolest thing to be part of it.
Also, she may have one - then get up and get something to eat/drink, use the litter box, and then come back to the "nest" and have another.

they go off buy selfs,,,,lay down ... often dont want any animals near them,,,and breathe like labor... will have a snot like thing break ,than blood, and sit and give birth little by little dont bother her just check in on her,,,,may take hours

I noticed that you are asking a lot of questions on this..... You might want to try about.com - they have pretty simple articles and there is a lot of information. It really helped me when my roomies kitty was in labor - i was the only one who knew what to do.

Most cats in labor will be very lethargic and if you watch her you will be able to see her contractions (her tummy will tense up) and her face will squint. Good luck
