I had the same problem with a lab many years ago. I bought the stuff the vet sells. I think it was called Deter or Forbid ... don't really remember. Well, it didn't work, and neither did the meat tenderizer. What did work for her was adding very little crushed canned pineapple to her food each time she ate.

In the meantime, I agree with the person who said to keep her on a leash when she goes and when she tries to sniff it,give a quick tug on her leash and a loud no. Then take her inside and clean it up.

Good luck. I know what you're going through and it's not fun..

to start with how many times a day do you feed her? what do you feed her? they normally start eating poop because there not getting the right sort of feed or there not eating enough. All though some dogs just do eat poop. the best thing to do is go and see your vet as he can take a look at the dog and help you more than anyone! i know it cots money but you need to get this sorted and fast because its not good for her and if you don't stop it soon then she will get used to it and do it for the rest of her life!

Or a nicer way of saying it is, She is still hungry. I make sure my boy has a permanent supply of biscuits down so he can top up on them and then at least once a day put meat down for him. If he is hungry he will eat it and if not will leave it.

I also give him treats, pets at home have a great supply and a few times a day I give him rawhide chew sticks they are great for his teeth.

(Did you retch like I did when he did it, god I was doing it all the way home ) lol

Dogs do this because their bodies are lacking vital nutrients. I'd be willing to bet you are feeding Alpo, Purina or some other low cost, cheap food.
I would suggest switching to Iams, Science Diet, Eukanuba, Authority or Bil Jack. Those are high quality foods that are nutritionally balanced.

Good news! This is normal behaviour for many dogs of her age! I know its really gross and puts you off but she will grow out of it. One dog I had did it - or tried anyway until he was a year old although they usually stop at an earlier age. Your vet may be able to give you something to put in her food that deters her from eating her poop but in my experience it made no difference.
The best remedy is to scoop the poop as soon as you spot her producing it!
One word of caution - be careful about telling her off when you catch her eating it as there is a risk that she'll associate her pooping with you telling her off and will try and do it when you aren't watching making it very difficult to catch her and stop her! To overcome this problem I used to let my dog do his poop and as soon as he was rising from his squat get his attention with a treat. As his attention was taking away from what he had just produced I praised him, gave him the treat and scooped the poop!
Urgh! Thats dogs for you!

Both my puppy and my parents dog did the same thing. Spray on a product called "Bitter apple" on the poop after she poops. It has a VERY bitter taste and won't hurt the dog. If her bed is close to where she is pooping you will have to move her bedding to a different location. NEVER hit or spank her. She doesn't know what she is doing is wrong. Hitting any animal is wrong anyway.

You have to make the taste unpleasant for it. You can try putting meat tenderizer on their food, I forget the ingredient that they don't like some enzyme, but it works sometimes. There are also additives or pills you can get from your pet store that work too.

My puppy used to do this too, but after a couple months he got over it. I think the only real solution would be to pick it up as soon as she goes, so there will be nothing to eat. Or call your vet.

There is something you can add to her food that will make them not eat it after it comes out. I think you can get it at the pet food store.
