You may find some very cheap airline tickets to Florida if you're departing within the next month. Southwest Airlines offers nonstop flights from Hartford (Bradley Airport) and some car rentals can be had for under $100/week. I highly recommend flying if you're traveling with children as the weariness that driving with kids down to Florida can ruin one's vacation. THIS SAID FROM FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE!

The cheapest is by car.
but it's a long ride.
you should consider by plane.you'll spend a little more, by you'll be saving time and headaches!
