Write him a poem.... sing a song to him.... there are a lot of things that come free and with which you can express your true love for him. :)

My dad loves Outback steakhouse, but he won't go there by himself or with my mom because he thinks it is too expensive. I usually get him a gift card to there for his birthday and Christmas. He loves it! It is something he wouldn't spend his own money on. This works great, because my dad has everything.

I'm also trying to make my mom and dad a scrapbook for Christmas. This idea would take a while, but the look on their face will be worth it. Maybe this is something to think about later.

Give him a pen, a realy good one , one of those exquisite metal-steel ones.U could surprise him a bit too by making an envelope which looks like a bank envelope or nothing like a birthday material and he will be amazed the moment it hits him what it actually is

A phone call, "Hi dad, Happy Birthday" I love you and miss you, when can we get together to just be together? And dad, did I tell you I miss you? Well I do.

Go to the library & find the local newspaper from the day he was born - print it and send it to him.
