Sounds like a pulled muscle, which is unpleasant but not life-threatening. Do you have a fever? Exactly where is the pain? If you put the thumb of your right hand on your belly-button and the tip of the little finger on the protrusion of your hip bone, is the pain right under your forefinger? That place is "McBurney's point" and it is where you would be getting pain if you had appendicitis. (If so, get to a hospital right now.) The other possibility is a clogged gall bladder -- if the pain comes in waves that might be it. For a pulled muscle or gall bladder your doctor will fix things when you see him tomorrow, but if it's McBurney's point _and_ you have a fever, get to a hospital emergency room. (Have a friend drive you if you can -- it's not safe for you to drive if you're in severe pain.) You can be saved even if the appendix ruptures, but it'll mean time in a hospital bed and a rather slow recovery.

Sorry to hear that you are in pain. You are smart to be going to the doctors tomorrow. It does sound like you have pulled a muscle in your rib cage. You actually do not have to lift anything heavy to have this happen. Sometimes just the slightest turn too quickly can cause a muscle pull or strain. You could also have some type of infection that is affecting your lung, so you are choosing the best course of action by going to the doctors. When I was about eight, I was rushed to the hospital with severe pains in my abdomen, and it seemed as if I had appendicitis. After a through check-up it was found out that I actually had a bruised area inside my abdomen which had been caused by a belt buckle on a dress I was wearing a couple of days before. It had happened just from being a bit too tight and where it was pressing on my stomach. I would suggest that you take some type of aspirin or other type of painkiller such as Aleve or Advil if you are able too, just to be comfortable until you have your appointment. You may want to check with your doctor's office before you do take anything, in case it will impact on the results of your appointment. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Your spleen can swell and cause gas to get trapped under your rib cage try taking a gas ex and see if it helps. If it doesn't help you may have hurt your diaphram mabe by coughing in your sleep or moving funny while you sleep. This happens to me all the time with my left side. It is something I do in my sleep cause I only always feel this when I wake up and it lasts like 4 days. I can cough but I can't sneeze or yawn or strech. It is very miserable. Poke around under your last rib and see if there is anything hard, swollen. But first take something for gas that may be the problem!! Women expacally get this!!

Appendicitis

You could have a broken or cracked rib, or perhaps pneumonia (can be present without fever) or some other type of lung infection. It could also muscle strain. Could also be trapped bowel gas. Another, remote, possibility is a tumor.

If you have a fever it could be appendicitis - do a small jump when you land if it hurts in that area it probably is appendicitis. It also has the soundings of pneumonia.

Appendicitis hurts constantly. It could be a seperated rib or other damage to the ribs.

Maybe a lung infection? You're going to be OK. Just keep that appointment.
