Shame on you. If you have a girl that is special enough to marry, then you're a heel if you're too lazy to go learn about diamonds and pick out a stone and a setting.
The only excuse I can even think of for shopping for a ring online is if you were overseas in the military. BUT EVEN THEN, you should either send the money to a friend or family member and let them purchase a special ring or wait till you get home.
On top of the fact that it's a crappy way to shop for a DIAMOND (the symbol of your love to her - it should be something you really put some time and effort into), if you buy a ring online you'll lose the important benefits you get from buying it at a local store: they guarantee it, clean and inspect it regularly for free, etc.
Shame on you.

I used their site to build a ring (have an idea of what I liked and wanted). It gives you the option to purchase, but I just wanted pictures. We did buy my setting from them though.
