The Vatican has over 50 miles of secret documents that cannot be viewed by the Public.

For a Christian, Moral, Entity why so much secrecy? Would releasing all these documents show the Church to be no more than a Propaganda machine?

Mark Twain O, I absolutely disagree.. Not even accredited scholars are given access to the full content of that dungeon. If they request a particular paper, and it is DEEMED OK by the Cardinals, then it is shown to the individual. At no point can you browse historical documents like you do at for instance the British Museum with it's 112 miles of shelving. The spin you put on the Catholic Church is worthy but it is spin. I wonder about an organization that is so secretive. I thought they are supposed to be courting new clients. The question remains why do they hide so much?

The catholic church has acted as a state entity for most of its history. The pope does rank as a head of state, and Vatican diplomacy is extremely active. As such, the Vatican has a lot of state secrets.

As for being a propaganda machine, of course it is. All organized religions are.

The Roman Catholic Church has been remarkably open in historic matters. They do not hide from their history (unlike many other religious organizations).

As a nation state with diplomatic relations with nearly every nation in the world, there are certain diplomatic papers which need to remain confidential for a time, just as with those of any government.

One can also term some confidential documents as 'employment records', which most organizations keep confidential.

With time, however, the RCC tends to release this kind of stuff when everyone involved is dead, or when the issues covered are moot.

The so called "secret archives" of the Vatican are actually not so much 'secret' as they are kept away from casual browsers, with only genuine scholars with real credentials being given access. This is the standard practice for all great archival sources.

The church hold so many papers which would prove the non existence of god.
Remember when the "dead sea scolls" were discovered in that cave it was reported by the church it would be over 50 years before the christian public would be ready to accept them.
We still do not get the results of them.
The Catholic church is the founder of modern religion (christianity, and Islam) second only to judasm. The Church has known for centuries from th etime the Roman Emperor created it that it was wrong, and to keep the power they enjoy they will never release the information within their vaults.

Look at it from a different point of view.Catholics think you have to go in this wooden closet and talk to priest through a wooden screen and confess your sins to him. That mortal man can't save you from your sin.Sorry catholics, but that's a fact. All these people frequent the Vatican like it's going to save them from hell.If the Vatican has any secrets, who cares? When Jesus shows up on the scene one day, there won't be anymore I'll worry about it later. No more worshiping idols,no more confessing to a priest.Christians shouldn't even pay the Vatican any mind at all. There will be people screaming for the mountains to fall on them trying to hide from God,but it will be in vain.

False religion has done more to hurt the true religion than anything else. Satan uses this false religion and it is about to be exposed. Revelation 17:18; She exerts influence "Over the kings of the earth" She dresses in purple, uses incense, and is exceeding wealthy. In addition, by means of her spiritstic practice all the nations are misled.
The bible helps us to see that this harlot in a world wide religious entity. She depicts, no any one religion, but all religions that produce rotten fruit.

This is the failing of the church. They want to protect us, but in so doing, they also keep us ignorant.
Then, when we find out the truth in things, we turn our backs
on the church, feeling we've been lied to.
Then we spend years struggling, until we realize our Creator
doen't make us do anything. He just wants us to have an easier
life.
When you learn new things, don't throw what you already learned away, but ADD it to your knowledge.
"And to knowledge, temperence."

It is all just a business. And if some of their secrets got out they would lose business. Just like all the big companies have their secrets i.e big tobacco, fast food, pharmaceutical companies and so on.

It's all stuff about you, Humanist. Do you really want all of that to get out into the open? I mean, seriously, if people knew all that filth about how you spent your summer vacations, you'd be locked up for sure.
