You're not supposed to, because you could have a bad reaction to the ink, or something like that, but I did it, and I had no problems.
Actually, I got two tatoo's while pregnant, but when I got the first one, I didn't know yet. Hadn't even missed a period at that point. But I was wondering why I was getting so light headed...
If you go in any legal, decent shop and it's obvious that you're pregnant, they won't tattoo you. One of the things on the paper you have to sign before you get tattooed says 'I am not pregnant.'

i have tattooes, and a 2 and a half year old. (tattooes are not deviant anymore in society)
it is not a good idea for get ink when pregnant. youy body will bleed more, you risk serious infection, and with your heart pumping double duty, you have serious health risks if you lose alot of blood. also, just like giving blood is banned for six or so months after getting a tattoo,m there is a reason. some of that ink is in your bloodstream for that long. do you want your unborn child with that in his/her blood as well?
the stories of AIDS from tattooes is almost a myth now, with hospital serilization of needles. also are the stories of hepatitis or herpes. but still, a wound is a wound, no matter how you got it. a simple infection from not cleaning the tattoo right can be mild for your, but those buggies are in your bloodstream, and your child could have serious health risks from it.
on top of it all, a reputable and above-board tattooist will not work on you if you are pregnant. same is true with being on drugs or drinking. (no drinking? alcohol thins your blood, you could bleed to death literally on them!) if they don't ask if you are pregnant, you should find another artist. simple as that.
as for after giving birth, i reccomend about 6 months, gives yur body time to set back to normal, and then get all the ink you can afford, if you so desire. certainly your baby comes first. the ink is forever, yes, but so is your child.

It's not ok... I'm a mother of 2 with one on the way... I have many tat's... It's unsafe for you and the unborn baby ... You can get infections, it can cause unwanted early contraction, Hepatitis, and just about Any other disease you can get from an open wound.... Wait until the baby is born and if you breast feed wait until you're done doing that... I have some appointments set up for Next September, I'm gonna get my sleeve finished... Good Luck... If you are doubtful with my answer call and ask your doctor and the Place you want to get your tattoo from...

I would definitely wait, your body behaves very differently while pregnant and you wouldn't want to risk the baby or a wrecked tattoo that would be very expensive to have removed. I got a tattoo when my son was about a year old, he's still nursing. I went to a reputable parlour.

No. You risk possible infection that can be transferred to your baby. Plus any good tattoo artist would turn away a pregnant woman in a heartbeat. Just wait till you've had your baby.

No way!
You gain weight over practically your entire body when you are pregnant. What happens if you get ink on a place where you have gained weight, and then you lose the baby weight once you have the baby? The tattoo will shrink up and look all distorted! I'd say to wait.

I wouldn't recomend it, your body changes alot when yu are pregnant, so you run the risk of the tat looking like crap after. Also, as a pregnant woman, your blood volume is up by 2/3rds, soooo, you probably would bleed more, ect. Wait til the baby is born, and maybe you could encorporate the baby's birthdate, name or sign into the tatoo!!

sounds like a bad idea. They won't let you donate blood if you've gotten a tattoo in the past 6 months, so I would think that whatever gets into your blood would pass to the baby.
Wait until afterwards.

No! The doctor doesn't recommend it because it may cause infection or expose the baby to hazardous chemicals from the ink!! It's better to wait until after you have the baby!
