I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I also have this and the pain can be unbearable. I refused to take the anti-seizure medication but I did get relief from bio-feedback and warm compresses. Also, you should get a mouth guard to protect your jaw from any undue stress during sleep. None of this will cure it, but it can make it a little bit better.

If they suggest surgery, I would strongly recommend not having it. I know 2 people who had the surgery and ended up in more pain.

All the best

I am not familiar with this condition, but from what you say, it is a nerve problem. I would find ways to relax, or massage the nerve. Would massage therapy or chiropractor services help? I would also think about going to a neurologist because he may be able to pinpoint the exact nerve or bundle of nerves that are causing this and figure a way to treat it. It sounds like the pain medication is just treating the symptoms, and not going to the source of the pain.

Hey Smoochy!!!! I'm finally back in my house and I got my new Pearl drumkit! I never really listened to anything from The Cure, and the song you posted isn't really my cup of tea. At least not right now, since I usually go back to bands I thought were okay before and give them another listen.

Hi it is called Trigeminal Neuralgia
usually it is pain in the mandibular brunch of the 5th cranial nerve
occurs due to various causes
it will have times when its intensity increase (i know it is really painful)...WHAT YOU NEED TO DO...it can be triggered by just touching the area ...washing your face with cold water...getting exposed to wind....brushing your teeth on that side
its treatment can range from analgesia up to sclerosing therapy
you should start by simple measure and give yourself time to respond to treatment and if not work you will go for more aggressive treatment
if you need anything to ask about (drlioness2000@yahoo.com)

I suffer with this too not all the time but I do sympathise with what is going on with you. ((((hugs))))

I also take advil but it has been suggested that I also try acupuncture as well. Have you checked into this? Also I use a hot wheat pillow (blitzed in the microwave) that helps too.

Hope you start feeling better soon.
