Go to a local dealer and ask about a small used car I am sure you can get a great deal as for insurance if you live outside of Toronto like Milton or Markham the insurance is cheaper because the community is smaller. Insurance is cheaper in Hamilton because less people live there. Toronto area is very very expensive

don't do it, $200 a month will cover your insurance and a little bit of fuel, that leaves maintenance , repairs, etc. to come from where ? Toronto has about the best public transport of any Canadian city , use it , besides $200 is about the average Canadian collage students beer budget isn't it :) ?

Seymor, you would be better off using public transportation. You don't have to worry about all the extra costs added on to owning a car. For example, fuel, oil changes, repairs, tires, parking tickets, speeding tickets, etc.

If you're handy with cars, you can get an older Honda or Toyota. You can get parts from a junkyard and they'd be good on gas.

Lotus Elise with Toyota engine.
Or just an old Toyota Corolla if that's too expensive.

@Wil T: he's not handy with cars; then he wouldn't have done his question.
