Depends on the woman's health and how young she was when she started having children. A few generations ago it was fairly common for rural families to have between eight and twelve children.
Assuming a woman starts having children at maturity (age 18) and has a baby every year until menopause (approx age 45) then theoretically she'd have 27 kids.

In theory, a fertile woman can bear a child every 10 months from the first time she ovulates until she stops releasing eggs. That is, a 9 month pregnancy and the short time it takes for her body's hormones to recover enough to become pregnant again.

WOW!, I'd like to know this in our times and ancient. A friend of mine had seven children an her doctor said if she didn't have a some kind of procedure to have her uterus removed it would drop out! Talk about scary. Vladimir and Zynaida Chernenko's children range in age from 22-year-old Sergey to 1-week-old David. Eleven of the children were born in the Ukraine, before the family moved to the U.S. Wow what couple has the most children in the US? Biologically of course. After all of this in ancient times, I'm thinking Adam and Eve or Noah..............

At least one every 9 months. Until she no longer menstruates.

A female is born with all the eggs she will ever have and more than she will ever release through her menstrual cycle.

Every month a woman releases an egg she is able to get pregnant.

Women have even been known to have babies after menopause... not sure how that happens but it has.

Too many factors....

age
health
etc etc etc

but I have a cousin with 27... none are adopted... she had 5 multiple births.... Thats more than I would care to have!!!

Don't forget this... the ability to care for is another factor when determining how many you would like... never have more than you could financially take are of.... without the help of the govt.

I am not sure how many a woman CAN have, but I do know that my aunt had 19. There were no multiples and one died at birth. My aunt and uncle really couldn't afford all of them, but they had them anyway. And people wonder why her body was so run down and she died early!

biologically... I suppose give ten or eleven months per child, between pregnancies and conception...

average age of menarche about 12, avarage age of menopause about 52

so that's 40 years, or 480 months.

if this breeding machine was given eleven months per child, it could come to about 43 children if all the births were singles.

my goodness!!!!
