Few people seem to make them anymore. Spent hours in John Lewis, etc. There are lots of plain white ones, but I want one of thin (bone) china, with a tasteful pattern ie no pigs, or cows etc.

I've had a look at ebay - good idea. But high postage costs. I think I'll go and have a look at the charity shops (I'd forgotten about those) first. Argos sells mugs and cups with dinner services.
And I'm sorry I'm so fussy (I won't bother to repeat the name you called me) but that's why I came on Yahoo answers because I didn't know it myself. Idiots.

Have you tried any outlet villages or factory shops like wedgewood, doultons, portmeiron they seem to be more traditional.
