the doctor might hear both heartbeats if they were laying right, also he might be able to palpate both, but only if they were laying in the right position,

If you haven't had an ultrasound, then it is entirely possible that the doctor just hasn't heard the second heart beat yet. Or, you could just be further along that you thought.

You really ought to have an ultrasound soon, so the doctor can make sure everything is all right (and maybe tell you the sex, if you want to know!) and that would show for sure whether it is twins or not.

Or, if you are definately not going to have an ultrasound, ever, then the only way to be 100% is to go into labor and deliver either one baby, or two.

Congratulations and good luck!

It is a sign, but when I was 12 weeks, I measured 16weeks and only had one baby. I was 110lbs when I got prego, so it may have been from being little that the uterus pops up earlier. Its hard to find the 2 heartbeats this early, so they would have to scan. Good luck!!!

Get an ultrasound. Also, if you start to feel 4 feet kicking instead of 2, you might have twins.

it's hard to say, but if the doctor heard 2 heartbeats, he/she would've told you!! You could just be further along than you think or the baby could just be big!! The doctor could also tell by the level of your hcg!!!

it all depends on the Dr. the Dr. can tell at times too when he hears to heartbeats or in a sonogram... you usually can't tell till either on of this things are performed. Sometimes it does not when hearing the heart beast because they are insync. Wait till you get your sonogram that is the only way to really for surely tell...
