It's a different way of looking at the same issue. Christians give in to temptations and ask for forgiveness from a higher power. As you said, some feel they can justify it by calling it human nature. Atheists give in to temptations and answer to their own sense (or that of society) of what is acceptable.

For me, Abraham Lincoln expressed it best when he said, "When I do good I feel good and when I do bad I feel bad, and that is my religion.

I dont think Christians "justify" their sins. But they do have a knowledge of sin from God's words in the Bible. The wages of sin is death so there is no sense trying to justify a sin. I think the main thing here is that Christians acknowledge sin as sin and ask for forgiveness and repent from it (at least the true Christians do this). Whereas non-believers may not even be aware of their sin. Even if they know something they are doing is wrong by some moral standard they have no reason to ask for forgiveness or to try to avoid repeating it.

The main difference is that Christians are forgiven through Christ's atoning sacrifice (in the same way that pre-Christ Judaism used to sacrifice animals at the altar for forgiveness from sin).

The origin of sin is the Fall in Genesis 3. We were not created to be sinful, so I wouldn't say that sins are "justified by human nature". We are born into an already sinful world so we end up sinful.

This very question is the reason Children of God (Christians) are persecuted so vehemently, and it is the one thing that irks me most. The world puts higher expectations on us than even God Himself does. They think just because we are living for God that we have to be perfect in everything we say,do or think.God doesn't even expect that, and He doesn't condemn us for our mistakes, but you let a non-believer see or hear of a Christian making a mistake, and BAM! That person is condemned by the world instantly, and is labeled as a hypocrite.
When I became a Child of God, I didn't instantly become a perfect person, and I certainly didn't become any less human.I have my faults ,and I make mistakes just like anyone else.Being a Christian doesn't make me any different than an atheist except that,by the Grace of God,and through the precious blood of Jesus, my sins will be forgiven when I humbly ask forgiveness.I don't give lame excuses for my sins.I know I've done wrong, and I admit it.
The world needs to stop condemning Christians for every little thing they do wrong.Just like atheists,we are still human, and we always will be.We are prone to the same temptations and everyday problems as anyone else.We strive every day to do the right thing, but God understands when we sometimes fall, and He forgives us.Why can't you do the same?Do you really believe that we are something more than human? Do you really think we don't hurt and bleed or get hungry and thirsty?Because that's pretty much how it sounds.
We don't need to justify our sins to anyone but God.It turns out He is more loving and forgiving than the people of this world. And just to clarify, our sins ARE acts of human nature, because we ARE still human. We aren't any better than anyone else.We are just saved and forgiven, not because we think we are better than anyone else, but because we opened our minds and our hearts to God,believing by faith. It is a free gift to anyone who asks for it.So the ONE difference between Christians and Atheists is that Christians know and accept the fact that they commit sins, and they have accepted the free gift of forgiveness by accepting that God is the only one who can grant that forgiveness.Atheists do not believe in God,so how can they ask forgiveness from someone they don't believe in for sins they don't believe in?

Yes I would say you need some explaining. Christians do not justify their sin they confess it and acknowledge that without God all are sinners and see there need for him for there salvation. Christians accept that they are sinners rather than as a hypocrite or atheist would tell you they are without sin.It is not possible to be a Christan and to serve sin. While Christians are not under the penalty of sin they are new creatures by faith in Jesus Christ. the same as Jesus died on the cross they reckon there man of sin dead too but alive to serve God through the grace provided by Jesus Christ. Christians are not above the law They are a new creature who do not need a law to tell them right from wrong. If I am not a murderer I don't need a law to tell me that murder is wrong the law is written on my heart. Please read Romans Chapter 6 it will explain much better than I can.

both christians and athiest sin because of our sin nature. It is justified by the sacrifice of Jesus, the only explaination for our continuing sin is our sin naturejust as before our salvation. The only reason the athiest is out in the cold is because they have noone to cover their sin. Again, we are no better than athiest, but Jesus is and that is why we are not in the cold.

It is kinda like one beggar showing another beggar where they found bread. They are both beggars, but one has a full belly, while the other refuses to eat and will starve.

Dear rose,

Do you recall the individuals who flew the jet planes into the World Trade Center? They "appeared" to be pilots but as we both know they intentionally flew thir planes into various targets to kill their passengers and others within the buildings. They (the pilots) apparently had the correct uniforms and paperwork to board the plane(s). But they did not have a genuine concern for the welfare and safety of their passengers.
I say all this to ask, "How do we know that a person is really a "christian"? Can we see into their soul? May I say unto you that Judas Iscariot was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus but he betrayed Jesus into the hands of the religious leaders. Many people in Yahoo Answers may "appear" to be christian but can we see into their soul? Some of the most frightening verses in the Bible are found in Matthew 7:21-23. To summarize (if you do not have a Bible), Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prohesied in thy name and in thy name done many wonderful works? Then God will reply, Depart from me ye that work iniquity, I never knew you. These are people who "appeared" to be christian but had never been saved--never been born again.
That is why Rose, I recommend you to read the Bible. Don't trust man. Trust what the Bible says because it is God's word.
Oh, and Rose human nature is sinful; the Bible says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

I feel that the only difference is that Atheists accept not only what we really are(highly evolved animals), but also responsibility for themselves and what they do. Christians, in my opinion do not. They claim that they sin, is human nature, then they state that their sins do not matter, as they are washed away in the blood. They can forget them and start over fresh with a mere confession. Christianity=convenience. Atheism=causality.

Actually, a Christian is forgiven because we choose to have a relationship with God. We pray to Him and do our best to put God at the center of our lives. We do our best not to sin, but it's not an overnight thing, and we should never expect perfection. Our sins are forgiven throught the grace offered because of Jesus Christ. If you don't believe in and try to follow His example we're taught that the forgiving grace won't necessarily be offered to you.

One definition of sin is anything that takes you away from God or from the way He created you to live. God created us to love one another and to love Him. That's our first command as Christains: to love God with everything we have and to love one another.
