I have had an event of a partner slamming a door at my face and somehow my inability to handle that seemed to have jeopardized the relationship. What is the best way to handle an angry man? Is it better to let him cool down first or is it better to go after him and try to get things solved right away? I am talking about a regular guy (not a convicted or abuser or drug addicted who spanks women, etc). What is the best way to handle the regular dude when he gets angry and go slamming doors or alike?

First of all let him calm down. After he is calm, sit down and explain to him that his behavior is unacceptable. Lay down ground rules, and a punishment that goes with it if rule is broken.
He may be looking for you to take control of the relationship, and this is one way to find out

Anger is anger is doesnt matter if the person has a criminal background. I dont think you not being able to calm this man down is your fault.Does it make your man a better man because he is a regular guy? If his anger can not be controlled then he has issues. This regular guy slammed the door in your face. I would give him time to calm down since he is a regular guy being in his face might turn him into the criminal you think so less of.Do you think he will do more than slam a few doors if you try to talk to him while he is angry? Is this the beginning of more violent things to come? I suggest that you step back and reevaluate the relationship.

Let him cool down. The worst fights occur when someone is hot tempered and irrational. Not everyone can be confrontational right away. Give him some time and space, let him take a walk or go for a beer, just to cool down. When I'm upset with my GF, I walk it off before we "discuss" the issue(s). It helps me stay rational.

I think it depends on the individual but in my view it would be best to leave him alone and then talk to him soothingly when he has calmed down a bit.
I dont personally consider any real man would be violent to another person or a woman he loves.

males need time

females wont to work stuff out straight away

the two mix like oil and water

you need to give him some time if he is real angry, get out of his face and let him blow off some steam. Then try and work things out.

Calm him down and be (or act, if you have to) understanding. All this without coming across as subordinate, so stay firm.

Let him calm down... don't go chasing after him. If he's a decent guy, he'll come back to you and talk it out.... eventually.

Grab him by the balls and give them a hard twist. That'll bring him back to reality.
